ARC stopped working with port forwarding error after returning home (ref#VDHRVT)

What’s happening?

· I'm having trouble with Roon ARC

What best describes your issue with ARC

· I can't log into ARC but I can log into Roon

Describe the issue

I've been away from home July and August. ARC worked perfectly until August 4th. Now I get a port forwarding error. I didn't touched anything in my network as I was away... Now I'm home and can't fix it

Describe your network setup

Movistar (Spain) ISP with modem in bridged mode. Unifi Dream Machine router. Roon server in Mac mini M1. All wired

I’ve tried: resetting port // changing listening port // turning upnp on and off in the router // resetting all elements in the chain (modem, router, Mac mini). Nothing has worked

ARC now works within my home network but not over 5G when away. Wireless provider is also Movistar

Problem seems solved now after ticking a box in upnp settings in the Unifi that says “Network: default” and was previously unticked (but I didn’t untick it: maybe a router OS update?)

Hi @Ricardo_Damborenea,

Router updates can commonly restore a default setting that interferes with automatic configuration of port forwarding.

However, it’s the experience of other users on this forum that MoviStar is in the process of rolling out CG-NAT on their accounts, which might block ARC in the future.

I recommend looking into Tailscale on your Mac and phone as a long-term workaround. This solution will work regardless of Movistar’s implementation or router firmware updates.

Thanks @connor !
