Hi Stuart, does this still work? I have an Xperia 5 V with 1TB SD Card, have the Developer option āForce allow apps on externalā activated, the Roon ARC app uninstalled and installed again but do not see the option to change the Storage used as shown in your second snip. Any ideas?

I have the same issue. Sadly I didnāt find a solution yet.
I feel like ARC was initially conceived to make use of hifi DAPs and quality audio equipment now being portable. But somewhere along the line someone in marketing saw the phone market and dollar signs flashed up and thought steaming was the solution ā¦ I cannot see any other reason you would take 2 damn years to build the most obvious feature for DAP usage. Wouldnāt Fiio be on the phone everyday telling you to help a guy out? How could you not support SD cards in DAPs for 2 years. Comeon guys this is ridiculous now.

I would also like to see ARC have the option to download to SD Card, It seems a no-brainer really.
For me, it would certainly streamline my on the go listening processā¦ and end the need for using rival software.
Surely Roon could get onboard with that!

I am using my FiiO M11S to play music on the go. The sound is great and love that I can sync it to my playlists. The battery life is much better than a phone. But is it possible to play music from the SD card? I would love have my home library available on the go.

I canāt believe itās 2025 and we still canāt download to an SD card on Android. Iāve got a Fiio M15S, awesome player but only has 64gb internal storage. Even my free to use podcast app can download to SD so WHERE IS THE PROBLEM, ROON???
Pardon the shouting but it gets my heart rate up a bpm or two.

Any updates?
Just moved to trial Roon with ~ 200Gb flac music.
I have Fiio M11S and an android headunit with an external storage.
Sync between devices was my firts priority choosing Roon. But without SD support using Roon becomes useless as players, car radios are not intended to carry music in good quality in internal storage. Strange that this feature was not implemented within 2 years, is there any hope to see this in the nearest future?

Roon neither publishes a roadmap nor comments on upcoming new features.
Sad thereās no roadmap or upcomings. Thereās no option to root my device to link Arc to SD.
Btw there are numerous of other nice suggestions which Iād like to see in future. Hope they are going be implemented and Iāll come back to Roon.

Iām just amazed this really basic requirement hasnāt been implemented as yet. Another disappointed DX260 user here, who canāt download anything to the deviceā¦

Just got a DAP to use Roon Arc mainly and was devastated not to be able to choose the sd card. Itās one of those things that messes up my idea of going full Roon OTG.

I agree that this is a staggering problem.
I was excited, amazed, and buying into this ecosystem throughout my trial. I had already ordered my Nucleus, and was getting ready to go Lifetime. Iāve installed the app across my audio setup, looked at upgrading my home internet connection ā and am now seriously reconsidering all of it.
My DAP -the reason I want Roon in the first place- has only limited internal memory, does not have mobile internet, is locked down in terms of Android installation, and wonāt allow me to use the trick mentioned above. I have a 1TB micro-SD in the device, and it is useless. I canāt use ROON to access the files on the card, and ROON canāt put files it can access on it either.
In other words, relying on Roon has gone from an exciting and inspiring solution to somehow being a guarantee I wonāt get to bring the music I like with me. I am seriously considering sending back the Nucleus when it arrives. I donāt think Iāve ever gone from ātruly amazed, will tell all my friendsā to ādeeply disappointed, glad I havenāt started raving about it yetā as fast as this on any service or product - and the fact that its over something as obvious as this is insult to injury.
I guess Iām just very sad about this. Itās so rare that you find a well-considered, beautiful solution like this for any problem nowadays, and it is just staggering to me that it fully falls apart over a feature most student apps have.

Tuned on Force apps to SD on Samsung S20, reinstalled ARC, but ARC still only shows internal storage

My sub expires in October. Will wait until then. Every player I have used has this, except Roon Arc.

I would be very interested also. DAPs donāt have 5G connectivity, and their internal memory is often small (mine has 32GB, minus 15~18 GB for the system). So unless I can store more music on an external storage via Smart Download, RoonARC is not an ideal solution.

Just bought a shiny new Walkman. Iām amazed you canāt put Arc music on the SD card. Roon is becoming more useless to me.
Whatās the point of Arc if I canāt listen to my music on a DAP? They all come with next to no storage. Now I have two libraries, what a mess.

Bumping this thread. I have a FIIO player with a SD card. The internal storage isnāt large enough for the lossless files. This feature is sorely needed - itās unfortunate that thereās been no traction since this was opened in 2022.

I am in a similar situation to most of youāusing a Fiio DAP player with 64 GB of internal storage. Roon Arc doesnāt make sense without an external storage option on these types of devices, which have limited internal space and no direct 5G connection.
Itās not so difficult to add this, but people have been waiting for years.
In my case, it will be a reason to think about renewing my subscription next time.
