ARC unable to establish connection due to network error (ref#BXW1EM)

Network Setup

· I use a single personal router not provided by my ISP

ARC Status

· ARC is *Not Ready*

Roon Error Code

· None of these are listed. It simply says "TIMEDOUT" or similar.

System or third-party *firewalls *or *antivirus software* can sometimes block RoonServer from reaching ARC.

·
Try adding RoonServer and its associated processes to the whitelist of any firewalls or antivirus software you have installed, including the Windows system firewall, if applicable.
[You can learn more about firewall exceptions with Roon here.](https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/firewall)

Has the status in Roon -> Settings -> ARC changed after adding exceptions in your firewalls and antivirus software for Roon?
ARC is still *Not Ready*

Don't give up yet.

· I'm stuck. I'd like to create a post to ask Roon Community for help.

Describe the issue

I recently upgraded to a Roon Titan but I think it's looking for a Nucleus Plus, however, it wasn't working with the Nucleus Plus either. Here's the exact error message:
{
"ipv4_connectivity": {"status":"NetworkError","status_code":504,"error":"error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined"},
"external_ip": {"actual_external_ip":"68.aaa.bbb.ccc","actual_external_ipv6":"null","router_external_ip":"null"},
"natpmp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"},
"upnp_autoconfig": {"status":"NotFound"}
}

Describe your network setup

ISP is AT&T Fiber, modem is provided by AT&T, connecting to a Cisco Meraki switch that connects to a Cisco Meraki MX67router, which connects via ethernet cable to a a HP unmanaged switch, which connects to a Nordost QNet switch, which connects to the Roon Titan.

Hi @Gabriel_Bustamante,

RoonServer isn’t able to reach the UPnP stack in the upstream router to create an automatic port forwarding rule, likely due to the presence of a second router and managed network switches in the pathway between Nuclues and the internet.

The network topology you’ve described presents a challenge, even for manual port forwarding. Since you’ve upgraded to a Titan, we strongly suggest using the built-in Tailscale network interface instead of port forwarding. This will be a simple and secure NAT traversal process compared to port forwarding.
