That’s not much to go on, can you elaborate please.
For the “ARC UX” is it a bug report or a feature suggestion or general comment If the latter posting in Feedback > Feature Suggestions or Feedback, screenshots often help to convey your wishes.
For the sync, can you describe what is not synchronising.
Carl
Yeah I get that so sorry I didn’t realise how strange your tech support request form is compared to others. Anyway Its taking about 2 weeks to pull down about 200ggb of music from Roon server to ARC on the my s23 android phone. If I move the same music with say syncthings it takes a few hours, the downloads seems to work album by album and yet I can also select playlists so when I pull down playlists is just the playlist or the playlist plus the music contqained in the playlist.
The ARC UX it seems to be a completely different experience than for Roon and there doesn’t seem to be a download everything.
please also understand that for 3+ months of the year I have no internet in the remote areas of the planet we visit so I was hoping for a seamless off grid experience
thanks for reading and in reflection this is not really a tech support its friendly advice from a retired software engineer
Andrew Fryer
Hello @Andrew_Fryer
Adding to @Carl’s question, because we cannot act on this as it stands. Please answer these and we will pick it up straight away.
On the sync:
About your setup:
On the ARC interface: is something behaving incorrectly, or is this a change you would like to see? If it is behaving incorrectly, please describe what you did and what happened, and a screenshot helps. If it is a wish, Carl’s links to Feature Suggestions are the right place, and our product team reads that category closely.
Hey @Andrew_Fryer,
Were you able to confirm what is not syncing in Roon ARC, what message you see when it fails, and whether it happens on Wi-Fi, cellular, or both? It would also help to know which phone or tablet you are using, what OS version it is on, and whether Settings → Roon ARC in Roon Server shows Ready or Not Ready with an error, so we can pick this up right away.
Please note, if we don’t hear back from you this thread may close automatically soon. If the thread auto-closes and you need further assistance, please submit a reopen support request via the technical support help form below and specify that the issue should be reopened. Thank you.
It is crippled no genres no search. So unless I am missing something its nearly useless as a disconnected off grid player its just flawed as all I can do is choose and album a playlist artist or track. so to get round this I use 5x faster syncthings to have all my music on my phone, then i export each playlist to m3u and then sync those. It would be great if there was a bulk export playlists option in Roon itself and then I think you could just drop Roon Arc as a good idea poorly executed
I think if you reply Roon tech on your own support ticket they might be able to sort the issue for you?
Downloading works very fast in my setup.
Hi @Andrew_Fryer,
I’ve moved your commentary into your support topic.
Are you aware that Roon support posted … see posts from @vadim and @noris above?
Can you please reply here and respond to their questions.
Many thanks.
Hi @Andrew_Fryer,
Apologies, you asked three specific questions and we came back asking you for information instead of answering them. Let me fix that.
Playlists: downloading a playlist downloads the audio files for every local-library track in it, not just the playlist itself.
Download everything: it exists, but it’s hidden. In the Albums tab, set your filter and sort, then use the ⋯ menu to download the whole resulting set in one go. Same from Playlists and Downloads.
How many local tracks are you attempting to download? It’s worth noting that Arc is known to struggle with large libraries, anywhere from 100k-200k tracks (it varies widely depending on the type of content tied to the library.)
Genres and search: both are there, and switching on Offline mode filters browsing and search down to what’s actually on the phone.
The speed is the real issue. 200 GB in two weeks is roughly 1.3 Mbit/s sustained, which is wrong however you slice it. Two likely culprits:
The part that actually affects your trips: ARC plays downloads for ~14 or so days with no internet. Resetting that clock takes a brief connection to our cloud servers, not to your server at home. Two minutes of any connectivity once a fortnight and you’re fine; but we can’t promise three unbroken months will function properly without a temporary connection. If you genuinely get nothing out there, your Syncthing and M3U setup is a fair answer to a real constraint.
Bulk M3U export doesn’t exist today, worth posting in Feature Suggestions if you’d like.
We’ll be monitoring for your reply!
This thread will close shortly without any new respones from the OP. @Andrew_Fryer, please reach out here if we can assist further, or create a new tech support request to continue the conversation at a later date.
Thank you!
Noris I have given up with it and reverting to samsung music with syncthings as i have better functionality get back to me when the app has similar functionality to roon server when off line
Understood, thanks for letting us know @Andrew_Fryer, if you decide to change your mind and would like to continue troubleshooting, we’ll be here to help. ![]()
