ARC with older network amplifier

So, loving Arc in the workshop with a Bluetooth speaker but I would like better sound quality on a budget…. I’m considering a Cambridge audio Minx do or older Denon rcd-n7networked amp. I realise these are not ‘Roon ready’ but am I correct thinking I could use Arc to get around this without spending lots of money……? It is a workshop, so it’s not a friendly environment for top- end audio

If these amps have Bluetooth, you can connect the ARC-ed phone by Bluetooth. Or you could use an external USB DAC attached to the phone and then a suitable cable into the amp. Or if the phone has a 3.5mm output you could use that (using the phone’s internal DAC) with a cable.

If the workshop is in the vicinity of the Core and the LAN it is connected to, and you have good wifi reception there, you could of course also use the regular Roon remote and have it output to the phone, then from there to the amp in the same way

Hey, Suedkiez, thanks for your input. It supports what I thought😊 I’ve just had a network extender installed in the workshop which is on the home network and runs Arc great…… so that opens possibilities… I don’t really need full native Roon functionality-Arc does a great job. I was looking for reassurance before spending time and money on something that disappointed. Thanks!

Hi Suedkiez, just to update, gone for rpi4 with hifi berry hat (so a full Roon endpoint) connected to an old nad306 and even older Bose accoustimass5 speakers, for £60 it sounds great! Thanks for your earlier input😊

Yeh, I’m very happy with it. Bluetooth just didn’t cut the mustard. We are spoiled by Roon!
