ARC Won’t Connect

Hi @connor

You were helping me with an issue preventing me from connecting via ARC outside my home network.

I have since changed my internet provider and I’m now receiving the following error code when testing the connection to ARC in ROON settings:

{
“ipv6_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“ipv4_connectivity”: {“status”:“NetworkError”,“status_code”:504,“error”:“error: Error: ETIMEDOUT, response code: undefined, body: undefined connected? undefined”},
“external_ip”: {“actual_external_ip”:“143.hhh.iii.jjj”,“actual_external_ipv6”:“2a01:aaa:bbb:ccc:ddd:eee:fff:ggg”,“router_external_ip”:“null”},
“natpmp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”},
“upnp_autoconfig”: {“status”:“NotFound”}
}

Hi @Willie_Melville,

Thank you for your post.

Let’s start with the basics - with the new provider, do you also have a new modem/router (gateway)? Who is the new provider?

How many routers are in your setup, in total?

If you only have one router, then you’ll need to either:
a) enable UPnP in the router settings so that Roon can automatically configure port forwarding, or
b) create a manual port forwarding rule in the router settings matching the IP address and port from Roon Settings → ARC.

If you have more than one router, you’ll also need to place the upstream router Bridge mode for port forwarding to configure.

In either case, please try enabling UPnP per step a) above.

Hyperoptic uses CG NAT. You will need to buy a fixed IP address at £5 a month (I do)

Hi @Willie_Melville,

Since Tailscale setup is more arduous on a RoonOS machine (for now), we’d recommend engaging Hyperoptic support directly to request a fixed IP. It’s our experience that they’ve implemented CG-CAT everywhere as suggested above.
