Are Backup Files universal or bound to a particular operating system?

I am running roon core on a (very) old MacBook Pro with i3 processor, remote control via old iPad Air. Tomorrow I am going to install ROCK on a NUC8i5 and also switching to iPad Pro (2020). So this should be a big improvement in speed and stability.
The question is: can i create a back-up file today on the MacBook and load it into Roon ROCK tommorow?
