Are standard Roon playlists refreshed?

Liking what Roon has been doing with playlists and especially the blog that provides more information about then but appreciate some next level info.

Are standard playlists e.g. Hazy or Sauté ever refreshed with new music? If so, can you share general information on this like, frequency of change, % of music changed at a time,

Related, can you clarify if saving a playlist prevents updating, either if the save is done by “adding to a playlist” or “+copy”? And is there another way to save a Roon playlist besides these two options?

Finally, if listening to a song that is in a playlist, it would be super helpful for one to easily see the playlist name. Possible?

Thanks in advance.

Roon staff involved in playlist management, grateful for your reply.

Agree with this. Some of the curated playlists are great but it’s a shame that you can only copy them over. Meaning you don’t get the artwork or any updates that change them.

Hi - anyone from Roon aware?

This is the user discussion category of the forum, Roon staff doesn’t usually monitor this.

Hey @hshrader,

Thank you for your kind words about the playlists! I’m glad you’re enjoying them. I’d be happy to help answer some of your questions. Sorry for the delay; I’m only saw your thread just now when it was brought to my attention by another user

There isn’t a hard and fast answer for this, really. In general, standard lists like the ones you mentioned aren’t updated after they go live.

New releases and Community-driven playlists are updated frequently. Event, seasonal, and themed lists may be updated with new selections or replacement tracks to plug holes left by content that is no longer streamable.

The two that you mentioned specifically were created and shared from our editorial account on TIDAL & Qobuz prior to Roon Playlists appearing in the app. Now, Playlists by Roon appear on your Roon home page and no longer appear separately in our partner services. Some content may still show up on our streaming partners’ services, such as the two you mentioned, but we no longer create or maintain playlists there.

Once you save a copy of a Roon Playlist, it becomes yours and won’t show any later changes made by Roon. However, you can remove tracks, add others you like, or select new additions in Roon lists and add them to your saved copy. The two methods you mention are the ones I use. :+1:t2:

Not in the now playing bar; but, yes, you can display Playlist Links on album pages for tracks you’ve added to a playlist. (You won’t see links on tracks that are in Playlists by Roon.) Go to Settings>General>Album Preferences and toggle on “Show playlist links”

When looking at an album page, you’ll see a link to the playlist/s containing that track. See screenshot below,

We generally post a new rotation of playlists at the beginning of every month and frequently update our ongoing lists, like new releases and community lists, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.

Cheers!
It would be great to have the option to save a playlist, not copying it. With the more frequently updated ones, I want to always be seeing the latest version
