Hey @Svein-Ole_Sorensen,

We’re not able to reproduce the issue on our side. Could you please reproduce it once more and let us know the exact local date and time when it happens? We’ll enable diagnostics for your Roon Server.

00:33 Local time Norway. Screenshot from my Macbook Pro remote, same happens on ipad remote.

Hey @Svein-Ole_Sorensen,

Thanks for the timestamp! We can see the error occurring when you attempt to access the editor.

Does the following change any behavior?

Force a metadata re-scan for the affected artist:

  • In Roon, go to the artist page (e.g., Chrissie Hynde)
  • Click the ⋯ (three dots) menu → Edit → if it stalls, try from a different route
  • In Settings → Library → Clean Up Library, run a cleanup — this can flush stale/corrupted image records
If the artist has a manually imported or locally-stored image that might have been corrupted:
  • Try navigating to the artist, click Edit → Photos tab and check if there's a custom image assigned. If so, remove it and revert to Roon's metadata image
It may also help to head into Roon Settings > Setup and perform an Image Cache clear.

Let me know if any of the above help! :folded_hands:

I have the same issue, i.e. the ‘Artist editor’ will not load certain artists. Like @Svein-Ole_Sorensen, I can’t load Chrissie Hynde, but there are others, including ‘Neil Cowley Trio’, ‘Rosalía’, ‘múm’ and probably a whole bunch of other ones. I’ve checked the Roon logs and Roonserver logs and can’t see anything obvious. I’ve also tried the steps you suggested, i.e. ‘clean up library’ and clearing the image cache. Some of the other steps you suggested don’t work (e.g. checking the Photos tab for a custom image) because there’s no way to get past the initial stalled Artist editor page.

EDIT: I’ve also tried restarting Roonserver and rebooting my core (Mac mini M1). Neither helped.

None of these work, It is when pressing edit the problem appears

I have the same problem with not being able to edit a lot of artist, Kip Winger, Jon Lord, Bon Scott, Angus Young, Eric Bloom and many more…

Can this have something to do with my problem ? Roon server constantly Checking for update

Edit: This I solved did not have anything to do with edit problem

Hi @Svein-Ole_Sorensen,

I’m glad to hear you’re no longer suffering from this issue!

Both @DaveN and @gert_mogensen if you’re still experiencing this issue, does it occur no matter the Roon remote device you use?

The remote doesn’t make a difference. I’ve tested using the latest version of Roon on a Mac mini M1, a Windows laptop and a Fire HD tablet - same issue on all of them.

@benjamin , @Svein-Ole_Sorensen can confirm, but I suspect he’s saying that he solved the ‘Checking for an update…’ issue, not the artist editing problem.

i still have the Edit problem

Have anyone of you with the same edit artist tried to 1: Load an older bacup. or 2: delete roon server and do a fresh install ? I´m afraid to do it, maybe it ruins something else.

I can’t edit Chrissie Hynde either. Something must be wrong with the artist object, first time I’m seeing this. On ROCK, macOS app, Early Access versions.

Not tried to reload a backup or reinstall, if so many people have the problem with the same artist, it doesn’t smell like a local problem.

I still can’t edit a lot of artist, including Chrissie Hynde, since some users have the same problem, it must be the latest software update that has broken it..

Hi roon, have you given up on this issue ? Or are workin on a solution ?
