I’ve had this issue for a while and it’s only been a minor nuisance, but I’m curious if anyone else has encountered it.
If I select my Artists view the total at the top always shows one artist less than the total. Today it’s showing “667 of 668” but if I add something new both numbers will increment. I don’t have any Focus in place (on any view) nor does the setting of “show hidden albums” make a difference. No matter how I slice or dice the library I can’t seem to find anything missing.
The only thing I can think of is that there is a track or album with no artist tag present, giving you one ‘unknown artist’ which won’t show up on the view (but Roon knows the track is there)
You could use focus to filter the list in various ways to see if it affects the result. It might narrow down the hunt.
A review of any unidentified albums might also be useful
If you look at an artists view in other software does anything stand out?
I’ve figured it out and I’m not sure if this is a bug or an “undocumented feature.”
There were two albums in my library by the same artist that I had no interest in seeing. These were the only albums in my library by this artist. One of those things that’s been kicking around in my collection, but I have no idea where they came from or why…
Some time ago I hid both albums which apparently meant that the artist was known, but since the albums were hidden the artist was not shown in the full list (yet still remained in the total count). I moved the files out of the watched folder and the artist count is now correct.
So this begs the question of whether or not an artist with all albums/tracks hidden should be included in the artist count.
Awesome work nailing the reproduction steps here @AMP – we’ve fixed this for the next release.
There are a lot of people in your collection/database that aren’t in the Artist browser – people featured in album credits but who don’t have albums of their own, for example. The artist browser should be “people who have albums displayed in your collection” so the count will reflect that going forward.
