Artwork missing, even for local files

I have a similar problem too, but on Linux. It used to work. The flac files play. But no cover art or pdf’s can display.
I did a clean install and rebuilt the database, to no avail.
Everything in my Music directory has world read access. It used to work, but stopped for new additions.
RoonServer runs as root, so ownerships should not matter. But what permissions are needed? For example, I have:

jarfx:/lacie/Music # cd “Woolf, Alex”
jarfx:/lacie/Music/Woolf, Alex # ls -l
total 0
drwxrwxr-x 1 jar squeezeboxserver 450 Mar 3 2021 Requiem; Nicky Spence, Philip Higham, Iain Burnside, Vox Luna- Alex Woolf

Hey @James_Rome,

We’re sorry to hear this is happening on your end. We’d love to take a closer look, so would you please upload the entire zipped up logs files to our drive?

Also, please fill out the template below so our technicians have all the info they need to help:

Roon Core Machine

Include your operating system and machine info (Model, CPU, RAM)

Networking Gear & Setup Details

Your network gear (model of routers/switches) and if on WiFi/Ethernet

Connected Audio Devices

Specify what devices you’re using and their connection types, like USB/HDMI/Chromecast, etc.)

Number of Tracks in Library

Description of Issue

Tell us about the problem you’re having in as much detail as possible. Screenshots are always appreciated!

Core: Dell running OpenSUSE LEAP 15.3
Networking: Very complicated, but endpoints on ethernet. Control Roon from Android, iPad (WiFi), or mac App
Connected devices: DCS Bartok, tablets
#tracks: 170000
tracks play, but I get no album art or pdfs. I have tried 2 different music disks with same results. It used to work, but then new albums did not. All files on music disks are read-world.
See james_rome.zip

Note: Qobuz does not display images either! Roon Playlists do have images.

It is the firewall. What ports do the images use?

Roon doesn’t like very complicaties networks.
See https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/networking-best-practices

Missing artwork can be the case with network problems.

Nope. is the firewall on my linux box. But I think all the right ports are open

Hey @James_Rome,

It looks like you are right: it is the firewall that is very likely causing this. Rather than just disabling it altogether, you can add Roon as an exception at the application level. Roon does not use specific ports… :pensive:
