Does Roon only use artist and album art when scrolling is set to yes in settings? I hoped that there would be more than 1 photo of most of these performers. In my use case example, Slow Turning by John Hiatt, I was was able to edit his photo. I thought there would be more photos to scroll through. On some albums there are other photos of performers included in the scroll. Is there a way to correct this and use the credit list photos ?
Hi @Babayaga , The only time I see photos of other artists is when they’re tagged as a “Primary Artist.” I may be wrong.
I’ve been playing with this album all day. I was able to add photo’s to the folder for the album and then when it scrolls, the photo’s I added show up.
I have messed up a few things but it’s a learning curve, so it’s ok. I added metadata (Performer) from MusicBrainz and it added a line item in the credits for several performers, but now there’s duplicates with the ones I added without photo’s. Tyring to get a handle on it but I’m making progress.
I will experiment with Primary Artist next…There’s a lot to learn but you have to engage your brain to keep it working!
Sounds like you figured out a workaround by manually adding the credit images in your album file folder. That would be more advantageous and keep your credits accurate, instead of making a band member a primary artist.
Here’s a link to Roon’s knowledge base on the subject of editing metadata within the Roon app itself. It will not change your file metadata, only what you see within Roon. Good luck.
Thanks for the info…I have a few more tweaks to try.
Here’s what I did to get artwork to scroll…I found pic’s of CD & band and copied to folder for the album. See screen shot. When I play album, the photo’s in the folder change about every 30 seconds.
Perfect.
Not sure if this is the only album you are concerned about. The thought of doing this has crossed my mind several times in the past. But then I look at my 22,000+ album count and think better of it.
No, i have about 1500.
But now I know I can get it to work.
I was worried about burn in on my Sony that I use to watch via HDMI through my old iMac displayport into my AVR. Every 30 seconds and you get a new photo. I have done a few albums this PM, but not sure if I’ll do all 1500. Could take a while.
Continued success with the project.
I’ve added extra images of some of my albums’ artwork / booklet to my file folders and really enjoyed the change in views while listening. But I think I’ll have to wait to see if Roon will add a scrolling credits photo feature which is currently limited to the primary artist(s).
