Astell & Kern compatibility with legacy devices

Apologies if this has already been covered somewhere else I didn’t see, but I couldn’t see it anywhere.

Last year I bought myself a discontinued A&K SR25. I absolutely love this device. Maybe it’s just the sheer joy of having purchased it for a fraction of the original release price, but it sounds sooo good to me. I’ve noticed A&K have just released the new SR35, which has full Roon compatibility for use as an endpoint out of the box. I was hoping ARC would release for the SR25, and I’d be the happiest, cheapo audiophile in the world. Is there any chance of this happening? What do other A&K owners think? Is there anyone from A&K out there who knows? Pleeeease!

Take a look into the head-fi thread about the SR25, because there A&K told us, that the SR25 will not get the UI updates like the SR35.
So I’m sure, that the SR25 will not become Roon Ready nor get compatible with ARC. They’ll sell the SR35 and not supporting older devices.
By the way: I’ve also a SR25, sold a SP2000 (not really stable with Roon) and a Fiio M15 plus.
The problem with the A&K devices is the not so perfect WLAN performance. Fiio performances here much better and can act really as Roon endpoint together with ARC and Roon remote.

Thank you. Now I know I can stop hoping it will turn up. I’ll continue to use my SR25 with my FLAC files. Maybe one day I’ll get an SR35 when they’re being sold as discontinued! I appreciate the response. Thank you.

Updating this a year later because I noticed last night, Roon ARC is indeed showing up on my SR25 in the list of services that can be installed … but - we knew that was coming - installation doesn’t go ahead. I tried downloading a fresh file and side loading it, but no joy.

I installed ARC on my SONY NW-a105 in order to soothe myself after the failure, and realised why the install won’t work; Roon ARC calls the browser to login to Roon. SR25 doesn’t have a browser. So login isn’t possible.

Despite the rubbish battery life of my NW-a105 - I generally keep it connected to a small battery pack if I’m going anywhere - performance of Roon ARC is surprisingly snappy, to the point I’ve deleted Qobuz on the device as it took forever to play songs. ARC runs well. So, yay!
