Description of Issue

The problem is probably that I need to buy a server to play Roon, but when i downloaded it for the first time (trial) I didn’t get any error, recently i reinstalled windows 11, and i get the audio codecs error.
I’m a bit confused, cannot just use it as a normal player? i don’t need a server
Thanks

It’s only an issue if you have files encoded with proprietary codecs like MP3, if like me you just have a flac library, don’t worry.
There’s a help page regarding this, I don’t have the link as I’m on mobile.

In which format are your files encoded? Roon supports these audio codecs: https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/faq-what-audio-file-formats-does-roon-support It might be helpful for the Roon Team, if you could take a Screenshot of the error Message.

Sorry, i haven’t been clear, I cannot even start roon, I got the message about audio codecs missing as soon as I try to open it

That is odd. Have you tried to uninstall and then reinstall Roon?

I fixed it installing the media feature pack on windows. My version was the N one, without the media pack.
Thanks for the replies!

I think that the people who replied to you assumed that missing codecs for Roon running on Windows was the same as missing codecs for ROCK.

Missing codecs for Roon running on Windows is a different matter that was cleared up when you installed the Windows media pack.

So, good call.
