Thanks for writing in! Major Windows updates (like Feature Updates or security patches) frequently reset system-level security permissions and network configurations that Roon relies on to “see” your audio hardware.
The disappearance of your devices is almost always caused by one of the following resets triggered by the update process:
Windows Firewall Reset - Windows updates often revert firewall exceptions to their default state or "forget" the specific rules for Roon’s sub-processes.
Ensure Roon.exe, RoonServer.exe, RAATServer.exe are all allowed through the firewall.
Network Profile Reverting to "Public" - Windows updates sometimes reset your network connection profile from Private to Public. In "Public" mode, Windows blocks the "discovery" protocols (RAAT) Roon uses to find networked and local audio devices.
Ensure your network is set to Private. This allows your PC to be "discoverable" and communicate with local devices.
The Microsoft Defender firewall will often remove RAATServer.exe from the safelist after updates. Please verify that it’s still safelisted per the response above. Here’s a guide:
