Describe the issue

For the last several months, every time I update Roon and try to play music, Roon indicates that there are "No Audio Devices Found.” I then have to reinstall the Roon from a backup. Why does this continue to happen, and how can I permanently correct this annoying issue?

Hey @Jon_Schneider,

Thanks for writing in and sorry to hear about your loss of audio devices!

Seeing your setup, we’ve observed a few similar cases with Roon devices on Mac running the newer Sequoia update in which our team is still investigating further.

In the meantime, can you please navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot Roon, and see if the same issue persists.

We’ll be on standby for your reply! :raised_hands:

I checked, and both the Roon Server and Roon are in the Local Network, which was enabled on my iMac. I then toggled them both on/off, but the issue persists. Again, this has been happening with every update for months. To correct the issue and have Roon show my devices, historically, I have had to restore them from a backup, which I am not even sure provided the update. Please advise. Thanks!

Any updates on resolving this issue, Benjamin?

This is soooo annoying - now my Roon Server entry has disappeared from my local access (The Roon entry is still there, but the server has flown out of the window). So even the toggle is not working anymore. Why are there updates of Roon when this issue is still not solved? Can anyone explain the terrible support from Roon? Had I known how bad it was, I would never have bought a lifetime license (or a one year, for that matter…) [I managed to get the Roon Server back in the panel, so at least I can toggle again] [Update few hours later]: toggle doesn’t do a thing. Still no devices but the mac mini itself as audio device showing up. Is there another solution? Reinstall Roon?

Hey @Jon_Schneider,

To confirm, did you toggle and then quit and reopen Roon Server? This will allow Roon to re-scan for local devices. Do you ever see a prompt to allow network devices on the Mac?

With that, can you be more specific about the devices? What make and model devices are you trying to enable?

Do you have any active firewalls or third-party antivirus active within your setup? I’d test out temporarily disabling both and see if that has any effect.

While our team is continuing to investigate things, it is important to note that this issue is due to Sequoia specifically, as this is a known macOS bug affecting local network permissions.

@Enzonen, please open a new ticket with your issue so you can receive proper attention from the team - Technical Support Request

Thank you! :raised_hands:

Yes, I toggles and then quit, and reopened the Roon Server. I finally got Roon to discover my devices after restarting my Mac.
