· the modem doesn't have a brand name on it, but I got it from my ISP, Spectrum. The router is an Eero 6. My computer that I'm using to run Roon is an M1 MacBook Pro

Hi

I’ve been unable to stream for a few months because I get the attached error message: “An audio file is loading slowly. This may indicate a performance or hardware issue.” It was fine before.

I asked Tidal, but got no answer so I switched to Qobuz and the issue continues.

I can easily play Netflix or any streaming video service so I don’t think it’s my wifi.

Any ideas?

If you are running Sequoia, then there is known issue with Roon and the Apple network updates. I had the same problems and have a trouble ticket open.
Plenty of other conversations about this in the community to view.
I have abandoned Apple devices until the issue is resolved, try a Windows OS (I run Windows 11 on a laptop) if you can, no problems with this.

thanks Howard. I’m running Sonoma, and one thing I forgot to mention is that if I play files from the Qobuz app, they play fine. Same with Tidal when I used that.

Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. Symptoms like the ones you reported usually come from a networking issue. I activated diagnostics on your account and found a trace indicating that communication between your Roon server and your Bluesound device is taking so long that the stream gets killed.

Can you tell us some more details about how your server is connected to the internet? Specifically are you using WiFi or Ethernet? If you are using ethernet do you have any switches or other network hardware between your server and router?
