Audio files loading slow from connected hardware

Brand new Thinkpad x1 carbon 7th gen
Latest version 1.7 build 710

Network Details (Including networking gear model/manufacturer and if on WiFi/Ethernet)
This isn’t a wifi issue

Audio Devices (Specify what device you’re using and its connection type - USB/HDMI/etc.)
Thinkpad

Description Of Issue
In the last few days I’m having trouble with

“audio file loading slowly - may be performance…”

The other chats I found were all related to people having this while streaming. I’m not streaming. I have my music library on an external passport drive connected with standard cable to my PC, which is my Roon output device.

It’s happening every second or third song.

What is happening and how do I fix it?

Have you tried any basic troubleshooting such as rebooting everything?

Welcome to the forum! Can you confirm if this issue occurs on multiple audio zones or just one in particular?

Does the issue also happen with files stored on the local HDD or just files from the external passport?

That was it. Aging hard drive. Replaced and everything good now - thanks!
