Audio for 'This Mac' disappears if my BT-W5 adapter is plugged in to the laptop
Orbi 6E, Netgear Switch, QNAP TS-453Be NAS
If the bluetooth adapter is plugged in, the audio devices for ‘This Mac’ disappear. However, I notice every 15-20 seconds or so there is a 10 ms display blip in the list of outputs. Not enough to see what’s there. If I unplug the bluetooth dongle from my laptop, the local outputs show up again. I’ve already deleted Roon and reinstalled it from the roon.app website.
The BT-W5 functions normally plugged in to my Mac Studio desktop and shows up as expected in the list of local outputs.
It’s a new behavior. This has worked previously, albeit plagued with separate issues running on the laptop.
Hey @Lance_Kowalski,
Thanks for writing in!
If possible, could you share a screenshot of your Audio/Midi settings on the Mac during this process as well?
Does this happen on both your Mac remotes?
If you could, please reproduce the issue, share a specific date, and then if you could use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon logs from the Mac to our File Uploader, that would be helpful.
Thank you!
Now I can’t even play from Roon on my mac DESKTOP. Skips each track and says “too many errors”. Wouldn’t it be helpful if it told me what exactly is the error? So sick of these Roon issues. Roon Arc, Roon app on Macbook Pro, Roon app on Mac Studio. USB device issues. Now issues on the main setup with Mac Studio desktop.
I removed the USB bluetooth dongle and can’t play from Roon to ANY output. A related issue between my Macbook Pro and my Mac Studio desktop is that the list of local outputs that appears at the top says “Macbook Pro” on both my Macbook Pro AND Mac Studio desktop. If I rename it, it’s renamed again both on my laptop AND desktop. What is this?
Now it seems like it can’t even read the music from my NAS. In this particular scenario, I’m 100% ethernet. As in RIGHT NOW - November 19, 2024 at 11:31 AM central. “Too many errors” is all I get.
Just closed and reopened the Roon desktop app and now tracks are playing again. 11:49 AM. I don’t know why I should have to launch Roon, get errors, close and launch again in order to get past them and play music. I wish I could see the application architecture involved in this equation.
Still, my local system output is listed as Macbook Pro on my Mac Studio desktop. It’s an ongoing struggle to use Roon. I just don’t get it.
Hi @Lance_Kowalski,
Thanks for getting that timestamp for us. Our diagnostics are having trouble reaching the Mac Studio can you please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
