Audio Pro A10 MkII (with WiiM)

Any user experience out there with the Audio Pro A10 MkII? I would like this little speaker as a add on to work in a network with WiiM Ultra.

I have two pairs of Audio Pro speakers and rate them very highly for what they are. I chromecast to the large C10’s and i link to the smaller pair via bluetooth/wireless/airplay/Rpi.

A10 Mkii still isn’t Roon ready, fwiw. Bought one right away, back in October specifically because Roon-readiness was ā€œcoming soon.ā€

Whatttt ???!!
I am going through a lot of despair trying get my hands on 2-3 of those Wiim-enabled speakers for our new house… Would love to use Roon for full-house control including the Wiim Pro Plus - one big group. But now @Lee_Schneider you tell that those small handy speakers is not Roon Ready despite using Wiim?

Correct - the Audio Pro A10 Mkii Wiim Edition is not currently Roon Ready.

I believe the Roon Ready certification is on a per-device basis. See Roon Ready. I wouldn’t regard the Wiim-ness of a given device as an assurance that it could ever become Roon Ready - for example, I wouldn’t expect the Wiim Mini to ever become Roon Ready.

Wiim has published announcements in the past when products have become certified Roon Ready: Search Results: ā€˜roon’ - Wiim Blog, so I guess they’ll do the same if/when the certification comes through for the Wiim editions of the Audio Pro speakers.

But looking at Specs for WiiM A10 | WiiM now, I don’t see any mention of forthcoming Roon support. This leaves me a little concerned that they no longer have the confidence/commitment about the Roon Ready certification that they did seven months ago when they first announced those two speakers and proclaimed that it was ā€œcoming soonā€ in the initial marketing in the Wiim forum.

I realize now that I took a leap of faith when I ordered my A10 Mkii right away - early adopters have to be cautious. Looking back, I’m not sure I would have bought it at the time if I had known that the Roon Ready certification would still not be complete. Hard to say where the bottleneck is, so I’m not pointing fingers at either company.

What a coincidence - Wiim-branded connected speaker was announced today: https://www.blog.wiimhome.com/post/introducing-wiim-sound-your-smart-speaker-for-high-res-room-filling-audio

No mention of Roon at this point.

Still not Roon ready after June firmware update.

I don’t think that ever will be the case.

FWIW, when I emailed Wiim support about this in May, I got this response:

Please rest assured that the Wiim edition Audi Pro speakers support for Roon is still under development, so please be patient.

Best Regards,
WiiM Support

Any updates about Roon Ready for the A10 MkII, would it only be with the WiiM version of / when it becomes available…?

Audio Pro is not currently listed among the Roon Ready partners. I think the streaming feature set for the Wiim editions of the A10 Mkii and C10 Mkii is fundamentally bound to the Wiim implementation within those devices - if you check the other Audio Pro wifi speakers, you’ll see that Spotify Connect and TIDAL Connect are only available on the Wiim edition models.

As long as that Wiim/Audio Pro partnership is in effect, my guess is that Roon will only be in play for Wiim edition Audio Pro devices, but since those products have been out for nine months now, I’m not considering it a given that the Roon Ready certification will ever be completed for either. I’m sure someone knows if this is a prioritization issue or if there’s a technical challenge with those devices. AFAIK, the only primary source that states Roon was even planned for those Wiim edition Audio Pro speakers is this October 22, 2024 post by Wiim staff member RyanWithWiim in the Wiim forums: Introducing the WiiM Edition of the Audio Pro A10 MKII and C10 MKII | WiiM.

In fact, there is almost nothing to be found anywhere online linking any Audio Pro devics with Roon Readiness (naturally, I’m excluding mentions of Chromecast and Airplay functionality as indirect Roon support).

Thanks for your insights and the link provided @Lee_Schneider. Very helpful! Hopefully Roon Ready will arrive eventually. In the interim, my intention is to use the A10 MkII via Roon > AirPlay. Will be curious to see if the room correction works in that configuration… I ordered the WiiM version, 30% off at the moment on Amazon. Great timing!

Sharing an update on Roon Ready for the Audio Pro A10 MkII (with WiiM). The below is from RyanwWthWiiM on the WiiM forum. Glad it’s still on the docket!

ā€œIt’s currently going through certification, but I don’t have a timeline on when that’ll be finished!ā€

So exciting!! Updating as we speak

I have firmware 1.56.637743.114 . Something completely different.

WHat can you say about it? Sound? Stability?
I’m on the fence and close to selling of my last three pieces of Sonos Gear.

I just ordered the A10 MKII WiiM and a C10 MKII WiiM - The A10 arrives tomorrow and the C10 on Monday. I can’t wait to hear how they sound. Man, I’ve been searching for a Long Time for a proper Sonos Replacement Speaker. I just listed the last of my Sonos Gear in Craigslist, US Audio Mart and Craigslist. I’m hoping the A10 will be sufficient for my wifes office, otherwise I’ll return it and pick up another C10. Lookin forward to them both and will post some impressions.

Just found out that the Audio Pro A10MkII is not the same as the Audio Pro A10MkII WiiM Edition. Pre sales it is difficult to see what one is buying. I ended up with the fist one and it is now for sale on the 2nd hand marked !!
