Seems like the sound quality in Roon has been degraded lately, it sounds harsh, I’ve tested using the same files in JRiver and JRiver sounds better, theoretically both players send the PCM stream untouched to the DAC via WASAPI. Any idea about what could be happening?

Just because you can’t measure the effect of the stapler (or more properly, IMO, the staples) doesn’t mean it’s not real.
