I am using the Dragonfly on a RaspberryPi, plugged straight in.
(DietPi, latest update 10.6.2)

They are set to “Device volume”, but any maneouvre that resets the stream seem to crank the volume up to 100! I have almost torn my eardrums on many occasion here!.
Even if the volume in Roon says 41 (out of 100) when i hit play it still goes to 100… That is mighty loud in a set of easy to drive over ears!

I am not used to devices with volume control (for this very reason, among others) but what is going on here?

If i hang the Dragonfly’s on the USB port pf my iPads this never happens?!

For what it’s worth, i can control the volume with my iPad Pro’s volume knobs, but i don’t want a freakin’ cardiac arrest on every sample rate change!

I figured this out! While i had been using the Dragonfly on the Pi previously i then used it Line Out to a preamp, and i had set the “Set Max volume when starting playback” option to On under Advanced, for the Zone!
This setting sticks, even if i change from Fixed to Device in the main setting!

It must NOT stick to “Set to max” when volume control mode changes!
