Same problem with my Dragonfly Cobalt connected to RPi4. Putting limits on did not stop this from happening. Very dangerous to my ears with headphones. I had to switch from device volume to DSP volume.

We brought this issue to AudioQuest’s attention, they’ve told us that they’re investigating internally. For what it’s worth, we’re confident the behavior you are describing is not caused by Roon.

When playing Roon through Dragonfly Cobalt connected to RPi4 USB running RoPieeeXL, tapping volume down on the RPi4 screen or my Dell XPS 15 as control device causes a momentary full volume blast. Work around is to use DSP volume which is barely loud enough, but does not exhibit this behavior.
