Auralic's MQA solution

Until either you or Auralic can prove / demonstrate otherwise, then the above is a False statement

MQA requires the use of keys to Decode…and Auralic have been very clear that they are not licensing MQA Decoding…so they are NOT Decoding, as you state above…using an Algorithm or other means

Instead, Auralic have been very clear about merely using Upsampling and their own Filters to arrive at what they mistakenly and misleadingly call “MQA Decoding”…but which quite clearly is not

You’re perfectly entitled to say that Auralic’s version sounds Ten Times better to your ears…but claiming that it is Decoding the MQA material is simply misleading…until Auralic make a different performance claim

Interesting, where you get the information that Auralic claims that they allows unprotected full decode output stream as opposed to Bluesound partial output stream?

This was early 2016:

Xuanqian Wang, AURALiC’s president & CEO, pointed out that “with Aries and Aries LE streamers fully decoding MQA music, they bring the MQA technology to any existing DAC on the market. (The Aries Mini has its own built-in DAC.)

The information is clearly there in the various CES 2016 links…you just need to read thru it carefully

More importantly, do you think that Auralic would be singled out and prevented from doing what Bluesound, Tidal or Meridian are already doing by providing either a limited or protected digital stream??

Or do you think it’s more likely that the devil is in the detail, and that Auralic were simply pushing the boat out too far??

In short, don’t you think this is a form of hardware ‘DRM’. Ronnie, you can still buy MQA (undecoded) and HiRes digital downloads up to 384k and DSD256 and play them back. Does this really compromise their so call ‘Crown Jewels’

Ha…now I remember why software decoding is limited to 2x because of this issue?

Well, you have to ask them if they really push the boat too far to the ocean…

If someone with an Aries records the output and analyzes it in Audacity, it should be pretty easy to see if there is any content above 44.1 or not.
