Hi everyone,

I have indeed. Waiting for tech support now.

There seems to be a problem with the latest Formation firmware

Hi @maksym.iskariev,

If you’re using macOS 27 Golden Gate, it will be restricting Roon Server’s access to the network (and RAATServer), which will prevent device discovery from functioning at all. Apple’s latest security is overzealous and falsely flags Roon as a threat. The team is working on a solution, but in the meantime, please see here:

Separately, the latest B&W firmware update has caused issues with Roon Ready device discovery for certain models. We will merge your post into the main tracking thread, where we’ll share updates as we work with B&W behind the scenes on a solution.

Thank you for your patience.

· After the latest Roon update this morning, my B&W Formation Wedge stopped appearing as a stable Roon Ready/Networked Audio device. It was working normally before the update. The Wedge still works normally via AirPlay 2. When I restart the Wedge, it briefly appears under Settings → Audio → Networked, then disappears again after about one second.
I tested this on two different Macs (Mac mini and iMac), both running macOS 15.7. Both Macs were automatically updated to the latest Roon version, and both had been working normally with the same Wedge before the update. Roon and the Wedge have both been restarted, but the problem persists.
This appears to be related to the latest Roon update and Roon Ready/RAAT device discovery or connection, rather than the Wedge or the local network.

Contacted B&W again after receiving an update I requested about the status. I was told tech support is on it but they have no time frame for when the issue may be resolved.

I will go through all official channels to RMA my formation set. I have officially asked for a replacement. I will also go to my dealer and see if I can expedite the RMA.

Furthermore I have told them I will seek legal advice and follow that route to have my consumer rights be respected.

I’d expect that the software license agreement provides no guarantees for freedom from bugs and allows for a “reasonable” time for resolution.

I agree. From my experience with support organizations, you can sometimes enthuse them into shifting into a more consumer‑friendly gear. That’s exactly why I raised the point here. I even checked with my audio dealer, and they confirmed that it’s “normal” for Bowers & Wilkins to take weeks — or even months — to resolve issues. According to them, B&W has been sold and reshuffled multiple times, and their support structure has taken a serious hit because of it. So customers end up waiting, dealers can’t do much, and frustration builds.

Someone mentioned that the software license agreement doesn’t guarantee a bug‑free experience and allows a “reasonable” time for fixes. Sure — that’s standard. But if those same terms imply that thorough testing is part of the release process, then it’s also fair to expect that such testing actually happens before pushing firmware to every customer. Otherwise you get situations like this: major features breaking, long waiting times, and discussions like this one that shouldn’t have been necessary in the first place.

That’s why I thought it might be useful to see whether we, as customers, can help keep them motivated — and maybe even enthuse them a bit — to operate in a way that keeps their users happy rather than stuck waiting for months.

Oh. I thought I’d just mention that I got myself a PX8S2 today for my b-day! I have not lost hope with you @Bowers&Wilkins !!

I was looking at those as an upgrade to my PX7. Let me know what you think.

Will do, I upgraded from the original PX from 2017 so I think my tech-jump will be way greater.

Hi everyone,

Our team is in communication with B&W as they work to resolve this on their end. We will do everything we can to support them and expedite a solution, although their team will ultimately be responsible for releasing a fix.

For users just arriving in this thread who are experiencing a sudden RAAT loss after a recent firmware update, please share the model of the B&W unit you’re using below.

We’ll share updates as they become available but encourage users here to also reach out directly to B&W’s support team.

Thank you for your patience.

So far the px8s2 is a great upgrade on my end. I’d go listen in a shop and bring your trusty px7 for comparison

Great to hear you are communicating with B&W. I sure hope that your combined knowledge and efforts will expedite a solution soon.

Thank you

· Hello,

I'm running Roon 2.73 with a pair of Bowers & Wilkins Formation Duo speakers. Since updating the Formation firmware to version 2.1, the speakers no longer appear as Roon Ready devices.

I understand the Roon team is aware of this issue and working on it. Could you share any updates on the status or an expected timeline for a fix? If there is a workaround in the meantime, I'd be glad to try it.

Thank you,
Rodrigo

Hi @rcaetano,

This is a known issue and our Partners team is collaborating with B&W to resolve the problem. We’ve merged your thread into this main tracking thread so you can receive updates as they become available.

9 days. Sure hope we will receive an update before this topic closes automagically
