B1492 - Listen Later what is the expected proper behaviour with marking things as "listened"

Hi All,

Some questions about is this the correct behaviour

If I mark an album to Listen Later, and I

  1. Go to the album page directly and play a song, the album stays as not listened to in Listen Later. I have played 4 different tracks and 1 track multiple times from the album page. yet…

  2. Play an album marked Listen Later from the Listen Later page, it will move to Listened after only 1 track has been listened to. I was expecting to have to listen to the whole album before it was moved to the Listened section at the bottom.

Have you tried playing with the settings?

Not yet as I hadn’t looked at Settings to see if things changed. Just looking, it was at default which explains #2, but, doesn’t affect my first point.

I haven’t even found the ‘settings’ yet…

Under the general section, down towards the bottom, right above where you set the MQA preference.

The default settings are 30 minutes listened, and for albums/tracks 25%. That was talked about in the intro video, so you just need to tweak those in Settings to get the behavior you prefer.

The assumption that no album lasts more than two hours means that this excellent new feature won’t work as intended with many classical box sets.

Would it be possible to include a manual override for either individual albums or all?

@Rugby You may wish to move this to the general response chain?

But isn’t that why the “percentage played” setting is there as the alternative to duration?

Geoff.

I don’t think so. It uses the word “either” and this is emphasised by @mike in the explanatory video. The implication is that it is the earlier of these.

Mike does appear to suggest that this can be turned off but I can’t see that option.

I assume that setting a slider to “Never” is the equivalent of turning it off…

Thanks. I’m not sure that the design is intuitive but will try setting the timer to never and the percentage to 100.

Hi, @Rugby, thank you for your feedback! Could you please share more details about the albums you interacted with when you came across the behaviour described in points #1 and #2?

  • Were they in your library?
  • Have you ever played those before?

Thanks!
