B1657 Roon 2.66 : RAM usage feedback

I have been away for a while and only just applied the last two Builds - 2.66 B1657 and 2.65 B1654 but my Roon server has been idling for a while, with no local library additions and no local playback, all was through Roon ARC.

Memory usage was

So a soliid 6GB over 2 recent ‘Scheduled Activities’ peaking just under 7GB.

I have now applied the latest 2.66 B1657 and will monitor usage over the rest of this week.

So the Memory analysis post update to B1657 is

So the previous idling level of 7GB, came down to 3GB, then with the overnight “Scheduled Maintenance’ back up to 5GB but then down to 3.5GB.
With 16GB available in the NUC, this is now much better.

The overlay plot shows that the main increase in memory usage is from unmanaged but this is released later on.

The analysis post-restart and application of B1657 is

Will take a look again over the weekend, after some playback activity and potentiallly adding further to the library.

So 2.66 B1657 continues to have stable memory usage.
There was a restart of RoonOS & therefore RoonServer, as I tried applying the RoonOS 3.0 B272 build, and rolled back to RoonOS 1.0 B259, after it failed to apply (wrong/legacy bootloader for my NUC)

So after the reboot & a nightly ‘Scheduled activity’ memory usage is around the 4GB level.

Let’s see what it does in the next few days, so until there is a further EA Build to try.

This is much improved

Memory usage is now under 5GB, over a number of “Scheduled Activity” sessions.

Memory is being used, but then released for these sessions.

I have also oberved with the latest RoonServer update and potentially a update to the Unifi U7 WiFI AP is that Chromecast audio zones seem to be more stable.
There is no activity in the logs regarding loss of Chromecast based zones and issues with mDNS discovery

Over the last few days, Roon Server has been stable with its memory usage..
It has now peaked at a max of 6.5 GB but averages at around 4GB

But interestingly it has dropped some memory, following a “Scheduled Activity” period
