B1674 Update won’t open on Monterey

I have been using an iMac (2015 running Monterey) as a stopgap server with great results until yesterday’s EA Update. On re-starting after the update all I got was the searching for your Roon server page, I tried select a new server and then use this Mac, but nothing has worked so far.

Any advice/help would be very welcome.

Maybe this might help as posted by @Suedkiez

Monterey may just not being promoting

Hi, @Glimmer, thank you for your report. Could you please share the logs from your RoonServer with us? You can use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader? Once logs have been uploaded, please let us know so that we can check the server for your files.

Thanks!

Ivan

Hi Ivan, I would love to, but at present I cannot get Roon to open on the iMac. When I try, it always stalls at the searching for your Roon Server.

Interestingly, I needed to listen to music last night so I set up the Server on my NUC, and this morning when I tried once again to start Roon on the iMac, it recognized the NUC straight away but couldn’t start the Server on the iMac.

I hope that this helps, but I am concerned that it won’t.

When I have a break I will try to downgrade to the previous EA version and report back.

Many thanks for your interest.

Hi Ivan, Meds have now been taken and normal service hopefully has returned! Huge user error here, logs have been submitted. In my befuddled state I wrongly assumed that I needed to be able to access the Server in order to access the logs! I have given myself a stern talking to!!

I’ve run into something similar once or twice myself, although I still haven’t been able to figure out what triggers it. In my case, Roon couldn’t detect the local RoonServer even though it was running on the same machine.

What resolved it for me was:

  1. Quit RoonServer from the menu bar/tray icon (RoonServer → Quit…). This may also close the Roon application, which is expected.
  2. Launch Roon again.

If that doesn’t help, it’s also worth checking System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network to make sure Roon has permission to access your local network. On macOS Monterey, the permission prompt doesn’t always appear automatically.

B1674 would not open on my MacMini (late 2014) running Monterey 12.7.6. I reinstalled Roon and still won’t open, so I went back to Production on that server. B1674 works OK on my Roon Nucleus - Rev B, Dell XPS 15 Windows 11 laptop, and NucBox G5 Windows 11.

Hi Jim, my experience mirrors yours, my NUC has taken the EA update without missing a beat but the iMac steadfastly refuses to open Roon with the update in place(I will try with the production version over the next couple of days.

I have done the same and all appears to be good with production, many thanks for the heads up.
