I’m using an iPad as a remote, and a Windows 11 PC to run Roon Server, and I stream from Qobuz.
I frequently search by composer and then by composition, which can give a very long list of recordings. I work my way down the list, and when I see a recording that looks like it might be interesting I open it to see more information, and I decide whether to add it to my library or to Listen Later. Then I use the back button to return to the list so I can continue working my way through it. But instead of being taken back to where I was in the list, it takes me back to the top. I have to scroll down and try to remember where I left off, which is a pain if the list is long, as it frequently is.
For instance if I search for Jean Sibelius (Composer), then compositions, and then Symphony No. 7, it gives a list of 94 recordings. It would be a lot easier to decide which of those recordings I want to listen to if I didn’t always have to restart from the top of the list after looking at one recording in detail.
It looks like there were a couple of requests related to this 4 or 5 years ago, but nothing since then.
There are several requests of a similar character, but i agree in full.
I have however learned to live with it (nearly) by using the filtering funnel.. Oh, sorry it was replaced with a spy glass-icon, to confuse… And focus of course. You should vote for your suggestion, of course!
Focus works well if you know in advance which recording you’re looking for. But sometimes I just want to browse through the list of recordings of a piece of music to see which ones catch my eye, and then I look at those more closely. That way I can find interesting recordings that I never would have searched for because I didn’t know they existed. For me that’s the point of searching by composer and then by composition.
