Background analysis stuck on zero (ref#O4FC9S)

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· None of these quite match

Tell us what's going on

· Background analysis stuck at zero.

Tell us about your home network

· Sky router, 500mbps, Nucleus One connected directly to router, library held in Bluesound Vault 2i connected via TP-Link TL-SG108 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch. I have tried the support suggestions of changing analysis speed, rebooting physically and via IP, there are no skipped files and no corrupt files in Focus. It was working over Christmas, but not in last few days, no new library files added.

Hello @rotti21,

From the screenshot, Background audio analysis is currently set to Throttled. In this mode, analysis runs at very low priority and can appear stalled, especially if the system has other background activity.

Please try the following:

  1. Go to Settings → Library
  2. Change Background audio analysis speed from Throttled to Fast
  • This will allow Roon to use more CPU cores for analysis
  1. After changing the setting, reboot the Nucleus One (power cycle, not just from the app)
  2. Once it’s back online, leave it running for a while and check whether the analysis counter starts progressing

If it still remains at 0 after this, let us know and we can take a closer look at diagnostics.

Thank you. I have tried changing the speed before after reading the community posts, but will follow your advice and see how it goes. I can go from 1 to 4 cores, any preference from your point of view?

Thanks for the advice, but that has not worked. As I cannot find any corrupt files, what is my next move please?

Hi @rotti21,

Thanks for letting us know! Sorry to hear you’re still having issues with analysis.

Concerning the 84 tracks specifically, were these new tracks you’ve added to your network share? With that, if you safely reboot both your Nucleus and your router, do you see any changes?

Thank you!

I have rebooted the Nucleus numerous times since i got it at Christmas. However, I have not rebooted the router as well, I will give that a go.

Hello @rotti21 !

Can you please try to make a backup of Roon to some location and then delete and readd the location ?

Regards.

Hi @rotti21,

Another heavy-handed suggestion is to re-mount the network share itself. Disable the Watched Folder and then re-create it in Settings → Library by adding a fresh network share that points to the same place.

Are the 84 missing tracks all stored in the same folder within the network share location? Are these tracks all in the same file format as well?

Thanks for those suggestions. I was moving towards thst conclusion, so will definitely try both of those ideas.

Thanks Connor, that worked. I’ve directed it to the same library location, but before I’d used the IP address of the folder, this time I used the file path and it’s worked beautifully, thanks again.
