apologies in advance if this is in the wrong category.
I have a question about the background Audio analysis that is located under settings/Library. Currently running a roon nucleus. How do I know that the analysis is complete in my library?
I have it set to Fast (4 cores). Once I set it to that preference, I did not access roon for a few days.
The roon Mastery Email i received mentions the text below
“Audio analysis happens quietly in the background or on demand when you play an unanalyzed track. Once a file is analyzed, Roon stores that information so it doesn’t need to be re-analyzed in the future.”
so I guess my question is How do I know “the file is analyzed”
When analysis is done for an album/track, you see the wave form when playing a track and the album info displays the dynamic range:
For the analysis in general, I think there is a purple spinner rotating in the top right corner of the Roon window as long as it’s ongoing. (But it’s a long time since I have done this)
If all files are analyzed, the analysis option simply does not show a number of files still to be analyzed (2,398 / 10,002). If this disappears the process should be done. And usually you see the waveform graph over the timeline when playing that file.
Usually it is recommended to leave one core for browsing and playing operation as roon otherwise might stutter and slow down. Some machines also might get hot and the fan kicks in noticeably if you activate all cores for analysis.
Thank You for your response. I don’t see any indication that files need to be analyzed. I probably have had enough downtime for the software to analyze all of my files in the library. AS per other users that have responded I do see the dynamic range on the albums that I pull up and see the waveform graph at the bottom where the song progresses through its timeline… I will adjust the background audio analysis back to 1 core, now that I am pretty convinced that my entire library has been analyzed.
One other quick question what sould I put my On Demand Audio analysis setting to? I have either “Fast” or “Throttle” not sure what is the best. right now it is set to “Fast”
I have a roon nucleus so I have no cooling issues (or so I am led to believe from the marketing department…)
