Description of Issue

I recently moved my Roon core from a Linux VM to the Windows PC described above. When I attempted to restore my Roon backup, the Backup Manager returned a message that reads “no backups found.” I’ve tried restoring the same backup locally and from Dropbox with the same result.

@BearPaw, welcome to the Community. When you state

can you please provide more details on the steps you followed? I also am not sure what you mean by “Backup Manager”; is this the backup process used from within Roon under Settings → Backups or something else?

Thank you, @Robert_F . Yes, I went to settings > backups > find backups. This is the message I received when I tried restoring the backup:

I have since uninstalled Roon, deleted its registry entries and reinstalled it, but Roon still isn’t finding my backup.

Thank you @BearPaw. Have you, or did you, make a backup from with Roon from your Linux VM, and saved it to a USB drive or a network location? You will need to point the Roon Backup settings to the USB or network location, which should present you options similar to this:

Yes. Before the computer than hosted the Linux VM went down, I made a backup from Roon and set the location to Dropbox.

This is the backup I’m trying to restore when I get the “no backups found” message,

Hmm. I would suggest trying to download the Dropbox backup to the PC first. And then trying to restore from that local location.

HI Rugby,

I tried downloading the backup and restoring it locally, but got the same result.

Normally the Roon Backup manager creates a top-level folder for the Backups called RoonBackups. You appear to have called it simply Roon. You could try renaming it and see what happens, but I also notice that you don’t seem to have the _roon_backup_root_ file present, which is worrying…

Renaming the folder to RoonBackups did the trick!

Thank you!

This is actually the first time I’ve done a backup of a core that hasn’t had the _roon_backup_root file present in the folder itself. It is present in the root of my Dropbox though. This my first time using Dropbox as my primary backup, so I thought it may have just been a quirk
