I am unable to get a back to successfully run. I thought it might be due to lack of drive space, so I purchased a new 4TB drive connected to my PC. But I cannot figure out how to properly enter the network share location on the Roon screen where you designate the network address for the new back up location. I have tried looking up how to do this and done it 10 different ways, but 100% of the time keep getting “unknow error”.
Have you first shared the folder you want to use by setting it up as a Shared Folder in Windows on your PC?
It’s a similar process to that described in this article for setting up a Watched Folder…
I have done that but still no joy. Here is what I am getting. I suspect its because I don’t know how to correctly show the network access typed out in the box at the top. I have tried all that I can think of.
I should point out that the folder I want to use is on drive G
You need to add the Windows Credentials (username and password) that you have assigned R/W access to the Shared Folder as well in this screen.
And you can’t use a Microsoft Account here - it has to be a “local” account that has been set up on your PC, e.g. “roon” - that is used specifically for use by Roon to access Watched Folders or Backup folders on the PC.
