Roon can do so much better when identifying artists by name!
I am not a playlist person in any significant way, but i do have a couple of “compilation playlists” based on collected MP3’s from the early days of computer audio.
So i have a couple of album/playlist based on these and i am in the progress of updating the tracks to identified versions.
Thing is, each track has got Track Artist and Title set, but Album Artist is considered “Various” for these. This confuse Roon, and when one stumbles upon a track by Nirvana, trying to identify it, this is the artist Roon chooses as the first match to the name “Nirvana”:
To be frank, this is simply stoopid…
Same thing happens when looking for a track by Swedish artist Carola, pretty well known in northern Europe with plenty of record sales behind her.. Still the artist Name match suggested by Roon is her finnish namesake.
There are numerous Artist mix-up’s and bad attributions, like the artist name “Snap” which Roon treats like the annoying sibling of the proper “Snap!”-artist.
Is there a way i can force Roon to ignore/block these bad suggestions? (They are not in my library, in any way, but the one’s i request are.)
Or rather: can Roon actually use some search logic in these cases as well, see below…
Edit:
Another obvious example of this common situation, when trying to associate some tracks by pretty well known artist “Europe”, clicking on the artist name i get this:
The library album is the “various” album/playlist i am working with, but the artist association seems to point at a random performer.
However, when searching, Artist Europe is the first suggestion in the “suggestions”, and the primary search result in “full results”:
