I’m a big fan of the jam band Goose. I tend to buy most of their shows on Bandcamp. Unfortunately, when I import these shows, Roon almost always matches them with the Belgian electronic group GOOSE. I have to go in and manually edit each album and track to fix the primary artist.
Is there a fix for this? Can I ban GOOSE from being matched to imported music? Or somehow get Roon to inspect the MusicBrainz metadata (which I add to each track via Picard) and choose the correct band? It’s a bit annoying.
For context, I haven’t seen any issues with studio albums. Just live albums, which are typically not on non-nugz streaming services (except for special releases). I don’t think Roon knows anything about these albums — I typically add them the day after the show. It’s just doing a text search and assigning them to the wrong artist. I just wish Roon would prioritize artists already in my library when it’s making a match that’s not in its database already.
They download directly to my local music directory, and then I update them in Picard, which also renames them based on the fixed album name. I haven’t tried the re-identify after a day or two, I will try that.
