Have you got an example that always works?
Try Radio Paradise Mellow MIx (320 stream). Iâve just started it (9.10pm) and Iâll see if itâs still running in the morning.
Update: Radio Paradise stream has run all night without a hitch. Itâs now 11.10 am.
Looking at the logs and simply looking at the text I can see âKilling connectionâ, lost client connection. Retrying
This is on ethernet and wireless end points, but again Sonos streaming is working fine.

Hey folks, I apologize we couldnât get back to you all sooner. Between the holidays, recent releases, and a couple of COVID-stricken teammates, weâve fallen behind and are stuck playing catch up. Itâs not an excuse, of course, but I did want to at least explain the delay.
Letâs try to run this one down. If youâre experiencing dropouts with BBC radio stations, please reply with the following details:
- The BBC radio station youâre having trouble with
- Your location
- Do you get dropouts streaming to system output? (yes/no)
- The local time and date of the most recent dropout you observed
- Click this link and upload your logs (if you need instructions for grabbing logs, you can find them here)

Logs for this event are above, I deleted the log history and will upload a full log set when this happens again.
01/06 17:48 BBC 6 Music streaming stopped, logs uploaded.
Hi Team
Further log file uploaded. Used 2 Sonos speakers, Office ethernet connected, Bedroom wireless.
Both suffered cut outs and sometime only one speaker playing in random order.
18:57 - 18:55 6 Music.
18:55 - 18:58 BBC Radio 2
18:58 - 19:00 Virgin Radio UK.
19:00 - 19:05 Dire Straits , Tidal Streaming
M1 Mac mini core does not seem stressed
Hi Kevin
The BBC radio station youâre having trouble with - BBC Radio 3 (320k).
Your location - London, UK
Do you get dropouts streaming to system output? yes
I donât know the exact time of the last dropout. It was around 2100 GMT.
Iâve uploaded the logs to Noris Onea, or whatever itâs calledâŠ
This problem with BBC radio streams in the UK has been there ever since I started using Roon.
Hi Kevin
If you look at my uploaded 23_18_LOG.txt you can see at about 23:15 I play BBC 6 Music, the sound cuts out during play, I then pause and swap to Dire Straits via Tidal which plays without issue which I think excludes my network. This is then changed back to BBC 6 music which again cuts out.
Let me know if you require anything further.
Cheers Phil
Thankfully Iâm not suffering dropouts on BBC Radio 3, but I would love to see the return of the metadata we had for one glorious afternoon.
Hi Vinek - yes, wasnât that great!
Are you in the UK?
Yep, Iâve seen that too⊠Some testing? If you are interested in metadata for BBC Radio 3 I can configure Roon to do so, but be aware it will only be in MP3 128kbps. I am not in the UK and donât have access to the 320kpbs streams. Let me know if of interest and Iâll had it to my relay/metadata processing server and add the link in Roonâs Live Radio directory. A similar service is already in place for BBC Radio 6 Music (pick up the 129 kbps MP3 stream) because I listen to it a lot EDIT : just added the steam to Live Radio directory
ah ah yes !
If it doesnât last just pick up the 129kbps MP3 stream I have just added, it will always carry metadata as I am the one to inject them in the stream directly from BBC website.
So it is! This is mysterious and welcome. If this is your doing RĂ©mi, thank you.
At the moment itâs providing info on the AAC 320 stream. Is it likely to disappear again or do we have to routinely go for the MP3?
@Margaret_Charlton yes, Iâm in the UK and I was forever going to BBC Sounds to identify unfamiliar music just like you.
Itâs back on other BBC stations too⊠BBC Radio 4 extra just nowâŠ
Update to keep thread alive: metadata is still there (hooray) but random dropouts remain a thing.
Agreed, tried last night it was fine, this morning cutting off, reverted to sonos control and no issues.
