Bedroom setup suggestions

Hi all,

Here’s my use case…

I’ve got a bedroom TV with a Roku, AppleTV, and FireTV stick connected to HDMI inputs on the TV (don’t ask). I use a SofaBaton X1S remote to control it all, but that is all irrelevant.

At night when my wife is sleeping, I want to be able to watch TV or listen to music with wireless Bluetooth headphones. But I’d like to be able to use Roon for music and the streamers for TV without having to change anything – inputs, cabling, etc.

This is my thought:

  • Find a DAC that is: 1) Roon Ready; 2) Can be a Roon endpoint; and 3) supports Bluetooth audio OUT to headphones.
  • Digital Audio out from TV into DAC.
  • Audio from Streamers flows through DAC and Bluetooth headphones.
  • Can use my phone (or AppleTV app) to run Roon UI and direct music to DAC endpoint.
  • Plug active speakers into DAC for use without headphones so I don’t always need to be flipping the TV settings between Digital Audio Out and TV Speakers.

Will this setup work? Does such a DAC exist? Any alternative suggestions?

Thanks in advance.
Peter

I’d say a WiiM Ultra might just be what you are looking for. I have one and it sounds great having active monitor speakers plugged into it.

It has an optical input. It is Roon Ready and comes with a remote so you can easily switch inputs when you’re in your bed.

I am also fairly certain it can send to Bluetooth as well. Even though I don’t use Bluetooth myself.

Wiim or bleusound probably has a de ice that suite your neads without breaking the bank. I had a Wiim pro but returned it after one day for a bleusound node nano.

The node nano doesn’t have inputs from your tv to the node. The Wiim has spif optical in and analog in. Also out and a coaxial out.

Thanks for the help. I will look into the Wiim.
