Best Settings for ifi IDSD Micro

I’ve installed the MQA optimized Firmware (5.3) on my iDSD Micro. Which are the best Settings? I posted a screenshot of my settings. Is that how it should look like?

Second question. Does anyone know why pcm can only selected with 384 and dsd with 256? The iDSD should be capable of DSD512 and PCM768

Not sure about the 768k PCM, but DSD512 requires native raw DSD support in the host OS that the device is connected to. On Windows, this usually means a custom ASIO driver. On Linux, this means a kernel updated with knowledge of the device’s support for native DSD. And on OSX, you are out of luck as OSX has no native DSD driver at all.

(I don’t own your device. But the native DSD requirement applies to ALL DSD512 devices.)

I’ve connected the the iDSD to my Raspberry Roon Endpoint. I think this might also be a limitation.

Hi ManInTheHighCastle

The MQA optimized firmware won’t support DSD512 at all. You have to choose whether you want MQA decoding (v5.3) or DSD512 (v5.2), with separate firmware to load for each.

Hope that helps.

ok. good information. does anyone know if my settings are correct (decoder and renderer)?
Else: is the overall performance with normal flac playback degraded with the mqa optimized firmware?

Choose Renderer for the iFi portable DACs and look for the magenta coloured LED indicating MQA rendering.

I have a Micro iDSD. I was running it at both 768 and DSD512 thru an SMS-200.

I have it plugged into an Nano USB3, which is always plugged into the wall.

I can’t keep the battery charged. Very annoying.

Do you have any problems like that?

No. the idsd is powered by the usb port of the raspberry pi. No problems with the battery
