Best way to connect Burson 3C DAC to Nucleus over long distance (50-60 feet)

I have my Roon Nucleus in a downstairs theater/listening room. I have a Burson 3XR there connected via USB. In our upstairs living room I have a Burson 3C that I’d like to add to my system. What is the best way to connect to the Nucleus from 50-60 feet away, and have best file resolution?

Connect Nucleus to your network using ethernet. Connect endpoints to your network using ethernet if possible or WIFI.

Hey Jim,
Thanks for the quick reply. I have the Nucleus connected via ethernet to my router. Unfortunately the Burson doesn’t have wi-fi. Inputs are usb, toslink, coaxial, bluetooth. (I’m dumb when it comes to networking, connections, etc. - in case you can’t tell!)

You need a Roon bridge device such as a Raspberry Pi 4 that can connect to your network using ethernet or WIFI. It connects to your DAC using usb or one of the other methods you listed.

Could I run an ethernet cable to the location, and use an adapter (ethernet - USB-C) to connect to the Burson?

I don’t know. I would use a Roon bridge device.

I’ll give that a whirl. Thanks!!

That distance prohibits using cables as they are not designed to go that far and would just not work so as Jim has suggested you need another device at the conductor end that uses WiFi or Ethernet and is a Roon Ready device to act as a bridge between the Nucleus and Burson. There are plenty of inexpensive ones available such as FiiO SR11, Wiim Pro Plus or Wiim Ultra. Or you can build one yourself using a small computer such as the Rasberry pi and install Roon Bridge software on it. Unless you’re familiar with this I would look at FiiO SR11 it’s cheap as chips and uses USB, coax to connect to the DAC. Just needs updating to latest firmware to make it fully Roon Ready. It’s about the same price as a pi if you have to buy one new.

Thanks CrystalGipsy! The Rasperry pi was intimidating me a bit, so the FiiO option looks like it will fit the bill perfectly. I really appreciate your input!

No worries the Wiims are good value to but only support up to 192/24. If your in the UK I have mine up for sale as I no longer need it, but it’s been a good little device when I have.

I’m in the states or I would consider it.
