Sorry for the confusion. Same story meaning - boot screen comes on, is normal, but official display 2 with official power supply and cable just show a blue box. This is what happened when I removed the DAC and just tried to use it as a display for a Roon zone.
Hi,
I’ve pushed out another beta build. This is a wrap up from some small things (some minor layout things). If nothing pops up we’re going to release.
Unfortunately the issue as seen by Will is not solved for now, but I’m out of ideas (and not convinced it’s not a hardware issue).
Thanks
It may be a hardware issue. I will keep troubleshooting on my end and see if I can figure it out. Thanks for all of your help!
All three units updated fine here, two RPi4s no display, one RPi3 with display 1.
@spockfish
Hi Harry,
I installed the latest RoPieee to all my RPIs All went well.
My 3 RPI3s with build 2354, all with display 1 connected and in “auto-detect”, are still working correctly.
My 2 RPI4s with build 2355 do not have a display and are OK.
My one RPI5 with build 2356 also doesn’t have a display and also remains OK.
Thanks a lot for all the hard work, Frank.
After updating to 2025.04 (2346) [BETA], there is NO activity on Display2 with my Pi5. Not even boot information! The music plays fine but without any activity on the screen.
Every other update went fine.
SOLVED: my display was in cam / disp 1
Changed it to disp 0 and everything is fine (again),
2025.04 (2355) beta all good here
pi4 model b rev1.4, 8gb memory, 16gb storage
wifi, no display, no remote
allo digione spdif hat
roon, plexamp, airplay2
hi there @spockfish , this may be relevant here… I did set up my USBridge Signature to BETA today and I still get the same crackling noises from USB that I had on 2025.02 (this issue is described on the 2025.02 dedicated thread)
There haven’t been recent beta builds for the Usbridge.
You can try this one, I’m running this myself:
https://image.ropieee.io/ropieeexl_ose_usbridge-2025.4.0-test.20250416.2357.bin
oversampling to 705k, no crackling what so ever.
(and a reminder for myself that, even with that cr*ppy network device, the Usbridge is/was a great network bridge)
Thanks a lot for your reply, I guess I was not accessing the UI since a while because when I did this week both my Allo devices had an update available ,
That being said, I will try the one you posted as soon as I get home
Thanks!
I will add, that this same screen (Display 2) cable and all, worked with my Pi4. It really is a head scratcher that it does this with the Pi5. Like I said though, I will keep at it and see if I can ever get it to work.
Thanks again for sending the image @spockfish , I uploaded on one of my USBridge devices :
as you can see the .10 device is running the test version while .26 is still on 2025.02 stable . (,40 is an RPI4, pls ignore).
Things improved with this 2025.02 but I still get some cracks, even if quieter and less frequent.
Reporting what I wrote on the 2025.02 thread, these little “crack” noises are not related to sampling or dynamic peaks, they appear randomly… regardless of 16/44, 24/192 etc. and this is happening on 2 separate Allo devices and several DACs tested.
Here is the feedback I just sent: 81c6a38f2a8088a6
I am sure they did not happen with previous versions, but unfortunately I don’t recall which version was installed before 2025.02 because I do not check for updates very often
I have ordered a Wifi Dongle to run a test in order to check if this could be related to Ethernet port.
That being said, it could be an issue with my network set up, but those same DACs I am testing with the Allo are working fine with RPI4 and 5 always using Ropieee (plus other streamers and laptops) .
thanks for your attention and pls accept my apologies if this comment should have been posted on 2025.04 thread…
Ale
All good here Harry tho one just froze… feedback 83c3a196617b66b4 @spockfish
A reboot after the send feedback failed to do anything but now not not contactable and display is still showing the frozen content
Are you willing to do some more testing? We can dive back in history and see if we can find the last release that was good.
Assuming there was a release that worked for you?
Thanks
Sure, I will be happy to test… in 10 days tough… I am leaving today for Easter vacations and will be back on Apr 27th
I guess the version that was working for me was pre 2023, at least from what I read on this forum as that is when USB bridge started to be problematic
THanks !
Here I have also an Allo USBridge Signature running the 2025.02 flawlessly without any cracks or similar….
Thanks Philppe, which DAC are you using? Is the ALLO wired to LAN or using a WiFi Dongle?
I’m really wondering what this is… Philippe_M has a working unit, I have, and then you’ve got some users like @alessandro_niola for which it doesn’t work.
My unit is on wired ethernet. And yours, @alessandro_niola ?
Hi there
I use wired connection and everything worked fine before the update. It is important saying that I made the last update a couple of years ago…at least
I’ll be happy to run more tests once I am back home next week
Hi, I’m using a wired connection and a Gustard X18 on this setup
