BETA Release 20260514

Hi,

I’ve pushed out a new beta release with the following work:

  • final refinements to the ‘realtime USB DAC status’
  • upgrade HQPlayer
  • bump linux kernel (and disable EEE @James_Fitzell )

Hi Harry,
You forgot the biggest improvement: the settings of “Both LEDs Off” works again .
Thank you again for the new firmware update.
Kind regards, Frank.

Installation went well on RPI5+Display2.

Thanks

Hey Harry, shouldn’t ropieee be reporting that EEE is disabled now (rather than not supported)? It might report differently now you’ve done something within Ropieee itself

That’s because there’s also a flaw in how the kernel deals with this setting: the patch they came up with yesterday fixes that.

I expect it to be merged early next week, and I’ll immediately release a new beta build when that happens.

Hey Harry, after finding the issue I’d put all but one of my endpoints back on stable (which has been stable ). When you put the disable EEE in the beta I tried putting all of my endpoints to the beta (3671). My Mudroom endpoint went offline this morning (after 31hrs on the beta, during which time I don’t think I played any music on it). The others have been running the beta longer than that, and haven’t gone down yet. Same issue as before when it goes offline it takes the switch with it (the cheaper Unifi Flex switches).

Yeah there’s a bigger issue: disabling EEE does not work correctly. They are working on it…

It’s interesting because on the earlier beta when I first had the issue, disabling EEE seemed to work (I can’t say for sure it fixed the issue, but it definitely seemed to behave correctly and reported that it was disabled after running the command). :man_shrugging:

belatedly…

:+1:

RoPieee 2026.05 (3671) [BETA]
Hardware: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.4; 4GB RAM, 16GB disk
Network: wired ethernet
Audio: USB DAC (TEAC) — Roon RAAT, AirPlay2, Spotify Connect, Squeezelite
Display: no
Remote: Flirc — Roon RAAT only

one minor point: for AirPlay2 (only), Audio page says DAC “LOCKED by unknown”. The other services tested are named correctly.

Good catch, this is resolved in next beta.
