BETA Release 20260606

Hi,

This is the first beta release after the latest stable (2026.05).
It contains the following:

  • updated kernel
  • next to the USB realtime status, we now also have this for HATs
  • improve (yet again) wifi scanning in case of special characters in network names.

Enjoy!

Network: wired ethernet
Audio: USB DAC (TEAC) — Roon RAAT, AirPlay2, Spotify Connect, Squeezelite

One comment Harry: it’s a little confusing perhaps that the Information tab gives a software version that doesn’t match your forum post title, as here.

i.e. I’m not entirely sure that I’m testing what you’ve actually released today?

Hi Harry,
:+1:
My 5 RoPieees (3 x RPI3B and 2 x RPI4B) all updated without any issue.
Thanks again for the updates, Frank

Two RPi4s without display and one RPi3b with display 1 updated.

Had to manually reboot the RPi3b several times before it came back. WebUi kept telling me it ā€œfailed to completeā€ the install? A few reboots got it further, then removing all extensions and letting them repopulate and enabling them got it working.

Works flawless on my Holo Red.

Thanks for your work. :+1:

Hi Harry,
This morning I notice that my RoPieee display is not reacting on a touch on the play/pause knob.
Also pushing the knob of the connected USB HID does not start or stop playing. The volume-control of the HID is also not reacting.
On the display, when I push on the zone, the screen pops up with possible zones, so the display is reacting. Changing the zone is also not making the display or HID work correctly.

I rebooted the RoPieee, but the problem persists.

Is this a RoPieee-error, or is this a Roon-issue?
Kind regards, Frank.

Have you checked the extension in Roon\Settings\Extensions? Might try removing it then letting Roon create a new one and enabling the new one?

@bearFNF
Thank you for the suggestion. I rather wait for Harry, as if this is an issue in the Beta, we have a testcase. For me it is not important that it is not working, so I leave it as it is until Harry gives a go.
Thanks anyway for your tip Much appreciated.

Hi,

I don’t see anything peculiar in the first logs, except some ā€˜undervoltage’ messages. The amount should not be something to worry about, I guess..

Furthermore, everything is running, and the play/pause sequence is recorded and forwarded to Roon. And the extention is also running, so … from the looks of it it should work.

However, I’m not happy with the logging: I can’t really see if the proper command is sent out. I’ve added some logging and will push out (tomorrow) another beta build.

I think you need to kick your Roon server, but if you can let’s wait until tomorrow. Would be great if we can validate this situation with the added logging.

Thanks

Hi Harry,
After a second reboot, or rather a first powercycle, all worked again correctly. Roon Core wasn’t restarted.
I hope I wiil be able to simulate it again with the new Beta.
Kind regards, Frank.
