First off — thank you for all the feedback on the new name and the new look. The response has been genuinely great, and a fair bit of it fed straight into this build.
There’s a new beta available now on the Beta update channel.
What’s new:
Improved dark theme. Dark mode in the web UI had spots where text and panels lost contrast — captions, table text, and the info boxes throughout the pages. Cleaned up, directly off the back of your feedback. The touchscreen welcome screen got its dark-mode logo fixed too.
Updated AirPlay component.
Updated Spotify component.
Kernel update.
RoonBridge switch fix. The toggle added on the Services page last beta is now respected at boot as well, not just when you flip it.
How to get it:
If you’re already on the Beta channel, it’ll come to you on its own within a few hours — nothing to do. If you’re on Stable and want in: Advanced → Update Channel, switch to Beta. Nothing to download or re-flash, and it’s reversible — switch back to Stable whenever you like.
Usual beta caveat: it should be fine, but “beta” means what it says. If you’d rather not take on the risk, stay on Stable and I’ll post again when this reaches general release.
Let me know how it goes — good, bad, or otherwise.
Thanks for the update. Coming from the latest stable release the update went fine.
I use MA and have sendspin and also Squeezelite configured in MA and on Verox.
With the stable release MA showed 2 devices - one with Squeezelite and one with sendspin (not sure if this is right - I expected one device with 2 protocols).
But with the Verox Beta I only have a sendspin device in MA - not able to get Squeezelite to work again. No Squeezelite device or Squeezelite protocol in the sendspin device.
All works fine on my Raspberry Pi 3B (audio through HAT). After the update it hung, but restarted fine after powering it up one additional time. “Normal” behavior for this configuration, with previous updates it did the same.
In Music Assistant it now looks better - I have now 2 device, one with SendSpin and one with SqueezeLite. I do not know why - and also why there are 2 and nor 1 with 2 protocols:
You can’t. I should have reported the build number.
Confirmed. That’s an issue I’m looking into right now.
Yes, that’s ‘how it should look like’. I’ve looked into this, but this is a result on how Music Assistant organizes/constructs endpoints with multiple protocols.
I’m not happy with [the situation] myself as well, so I’m not giving up on this. But it’s also not a blocker for the release.
Thanks - but when I insert my volumio card into the same PI it shows all the services (SqueezLite, Airplay, …) on the same device. Not a problem for me - but I do not understand the difference.
And what is about the error on the SendSpin device in Music Assistant? Is this normal?
And do I have the latest version - or is there a update missing?
