Description of Issue

Hello everyone, I have 3 days ago the roon
update build 1182. And since then I can not run HQPlayer through roon. My sonictransporter i5 (3rd gen) is running formally hot when you see the cpu (pic1) usage. And there was no music running. And on the Roon app in the iPad the music seemed to run when you clicked directly on a song in the title columns. But at the bottom of the timeline of Roon everything stopped at 0 sec. and moved at all. There was also of course no music to hear.
Only when I had the HQPlayer APP completely deleted from all devices (Sonitransporter->optictalModule/Rendu; Roon) and everything again only directly over Roon run let the music worked again. My question to the community is: Has anyone had a similar experience and does anyone know the exact cause of this behavior? I just did trial and error. But the reason I do not understand yet. I just have the suspicion that Roon update is the reason. Because before that everything was running fine and sounded great.
I’m a little sad and annoyed right now!!!
Help!!!

P.S. Roon DSP was disabled during the processing of the HQPlayer all the time! Even the day before when everything was still running fine!

Can you share screenshots of all your HQPlayer settings page?

Sometimes the Device was not shown up (like here) and sometimes it was. But nevertheless it didn’t run.
And i deleted the HQPlayer several time and installed everything. Then it ran for an hour after it stoped again. After that i couldn’t activate again.
The liscense key is accepted and my Name is shown

I also face the same intermittent issue recently, sometimes, when first started my HQPlayer server. Everything seems to work normally on Roon control app but no music was received at HQPlayer (no load). There was no data was sent to my DAC at that time.
Sometimes click stopped then play again few times solve the issue. Sometimes I need to restart my HQPlayer server.
Still could not find the common sequence of event yet at this moment

Looks like a network issue between HQPlayer and NAA.

Tomorrow i try to install everything new and make some screenshots of it.

I have HQPlayer Embedded on a PC with Ubuntu Server 20.04. Whenever the PC is rebooted, HQPlayer appears to start, but it won’t play music from Roon. If I restart HQPlayer, everything works perfectly until the next server reboot. I think there’s a race condition between starting up the Ubuntu network stack and starting HQPlayer, but I haven’t had time to figure out what to change in the Ubuntu network configuration.

Can you just try to restart HQPlayer without rebooting SonicTransporter?

So you are on some older HQPlayer version? Is it using DHCP? This shouldn’t happen as the hqplayerd.service depends on network-online.target. But if you look into the service file, you can find a comment there that if you use systemd-networkd you can also add systemd-networkd-wait-online.service to the dependency which ensures that network is fully up before hqplayerd is started.

There are also some other services depending on which way network is managed:
NetworkManager-wait-online.service (for systems using NetworkManager)
ifupdown-wait-online.service (for systems using ifupdown)

You could try the latter one.

Static IP should never be an issue in this respect. But with DHCP the challenge is that interface is configured asynchronously and for different DHCP servers it takes a different amount of time to provide an IP lease. It could take even some tens of seconds. So DHCP client service is started immediately, but the actual IPs for one or more interfaces can appear much later. These “wait-online” services exist for the purpose to wait for such activity to actually complete.

Thanks, I’m traveling now but I’ll dig into this when I get back. I can’t access the system from here, but it’s a pretty recent HQPlayer. The server gets its IP address via DHCP, but the address is statically determined in the DHCP server. I think it’s a service spin-up issue, so I’ll check the wait-onlines in the service file.

I think it might not be the network issue in my case cause they have been working well on the same network configuration for a couple of years.
It only happened recently (might be from the last 2 Roon update).
I need to find time to identify the sequence of even when it happens and the repetable method to get it work.
I use static IP not DHCP

Hi all, after reinstalling everything again there is NO progress at all. The Issue is still alive!!! I did a documentation on Audiophile style HQPlayer don't run since Roon update build 1182! - Software - Audiophile Style so maybe it’s easier for me and you to take a look at.
So i need really help because i have no clue. THX
