It depends.. capacitors shouldn’t dry out after 3-4 years.
Running well so far. At least the repairs are guaranteed.
Kickstarting this thread as my unit has failed again. This time it is unresponsive with a flashing red light. I’ve been through the whole support cycle and after trying the recommended unplugging overnight and then trying to reconnect 4 or 5 times they have wiped their hands of me and asked me to contact the authorised dealer for another potential repair. I’m hoping as my previous repair was July 2025 I won’t be charged again.
An interesting side note… after the recommended actions hadn’t brought my unit back to life and support had told me there was nothing more they could do, I had accidentally left the unit plugged in overnight with the Ethernet cable in place but the speakers disconnected. The next morning I noticed with some excitement that the unit was back online and displaying a welcome blue light. I thought it best to power down before reconnecting the speakers. Big mistake. On reboot the unit was back to displaying the dreaded flashing red light. ![]()
Hi Mike,
This sounds like, again, a dried out capacitor. This time rather in the SMPS of the PowerNode.
So my question: is your PowerNode enclosed in a cupboard or hidden somewhere, so that it gets to hot, because there is not enough cool airflow? In any case, this doesn’t seem to be a normal situation.
Kind regards, Frank.
Hi Frank, no it’s just on an open shelf doing it’s thing.
Weird. Something makes your capacitors age too fast. Or you have bad luck with your device. Perhaps it was made on a monday morning…
