Not strictly Roon but all you experts out there.
I just bought a TP-Link UB500, Bluetooth 5.3 dongle to use with my desktop, I can’t somehow get it to see , and then pair , with either of my Sony MX series headphones
Loaded newest drivers etc , swapped USB ports etc , it can see the TV, my Naim Atom and my phone but not the headphones
It’s not the end of the world as my Phones and iPads all work OK but does anyone have any thoughts ? Could there be some compatibility with the mother board etc its quite an old PC .i7 - 7700 etc
There is no obvious reason (to me) from the limited information you provided, why a Bluetooth audio device should not show/work with your PC. Maybe work through this guide from Sony?
Thanks
I have done, I have had the WH 1000 Mx4 and WF 1000 MX4 , over ear and in ear for ages and used in conjunction with Samsung phone and 2 iPads with no issues.
This was an attempt to use BT on my desktop as a source , all the techniques described in the walk through fail. I am wondering if the dongle has hardware compatibility issues with an old motherboard (from a Microsoft community forum)
TBH I was expecting just plug and play , silly me.
It’s not a big issue I’ll just send it back and carry on with mobile devices. It was an experiment for a particular temporary problem I have, never a long term thing !!
Bluetooth is for wireless what USB is for wired connections, an attempt to standardize functionality and drivers for classes of common and wildly used peripheral devices. If it is as you write, that your adapter works for audio class devices (just not your SONY devices), it is hard to imagine how that should be related to a potential incompatibility between the adapter and the mainboard it is plugged into. For an actual incompatibility the expectation would be that the adapter doesn’t work at all or at least that a certain class of products (like audio devices for example) doesn’t work (at all).
If SONY’s guides don’t help, contact SONY customer support to inquire if there is an incompatibility between their products and certain Bluetooth adapters or if they can provide you with more specific instructions maybe.
