Bose AirPlay issue

Hi colleagues.
So I have a problem with the delay or loss of sound during streaming almost every day. The Internet channel is stable during the day, there is no significant drop in speed and ping. This happens mainly when I group the speakers in one group for a while everything is fine, but during the day at different times there are delays or no sound at all. The same situation but less often happens with Cambridge CNX, even when the stream goes exclusively to him. What could be the reason? The devices were rebooted and the result after was the same. What devices can you advise to replace Bose, that have been tested by Roon.

Is it possible for specialists to analyze the log of my Roon to determine the cause. It is important for me to get the end result as it is not one purchased license, Thanks.

When this issue occurs, does the progress bar still look like it’s playing, as in the progress bar moves and you just get no sound?

Are these on the latest firmware?

What happens if you play to each of the zones individually? Do you see just one of the zones having this issue while the rest continue to work as expected?

Sure, we can take a look at logs, but first let’s clarify the exact error state with the above questions so we know what we’re looking for in logs.


  1. Yes when there is a delay in the sound playback in the group, the interface is active, the playback process bar look like it’s playing (sound delay approximately 2-3 seconds)
  2. Yes latest firmware
  3. I created a different combination group, but the group eventually one. I play either on a single device or in a single created group. (Delay when the devices is in a group, and when connected to a one device is lost sound for a few seconds and is repeated)
  4. I think it is necessary to analyze the log

I also want to inform you that the sound mostly plays during the day as a background sound, so this problem is felt every day. At the same time when there were delays or loss of sound, online TV worked without problems and breakages.

Can you please reproduce this issue on one of your zones (not playing in a group), note the exact local time + date + track the issue occurs on and send me a copy of your Roon logs by using these instructions?

Thank you for sending the logs over. I have been reviewing them and I’m noticing quite a few airplay lost packets, for example, I’m seeing this:

Looking over your setup details, I noticed that you are running on a QNAP Core, which does not meet our Minimum Requirements:

To help clarify if this is a Core issue or a Networking issue, can I please ask that you try to temporarily host the Roon Core on a regular Mac or Windows PC and verify if the issue still occurs? You can use these instructions to switch the Cores:

  • Open Roon on the other PC you wish to try as the Core
  • Roon Settings -> General
  • Disconnect
  • On the “Choose your Core” screen, press “Use this PC”
  • If asked to Unauthorize, you can go ahead and do so. You are limited to one active Roon Core at a time but you are free to switch between them as often as you’d like.
  • Verify if the same behavior occurs on the different PC
