This is a long, old thread. I think it is safe to say from roon responses that at the beginning it was considered more of a technical problem. Converging roon’s relational object model with a folder hierarchical model is not impossible but certainly challenging.
Over the years that hardened into an ideological / philosophical position.
From what I can see roon’s current position is that it welcomes discussion of this issue as long as it is constructive in terms of replacements for folder browsing.
