Removing a specific track from a Qobuz (Tidal) album in the Roon library is buggy sometimes. Sometimes it removes the selected track, other times it removes the entire album. Anybody else seen this?
Did the albums contain only one track or more than one if one then it will remove album as well ? You are deleting via the … menu next to the track?
Yes, it has multiple tracks. Here’s an example:
It also happens when you delete one or more tracks via multi-select. The problem doesn’t seem to happen with all albums. Its inconsistent.
Not see that before. I would get some timestamps and list exact track album for when support pick this up. That’s definitely not supposed to happen.
Hi @hacker19,
Thank you for the report. We can reproduce this internally - even with other albums - and are escalating to QA to confirm the root behavior and cause.
Hi @hacker19,
QA has reviewed this report and passed along their notes.
What you’re encountering is an expected subtlety in the UX arising from a backend distinction between the library album object and the streaming album object. There’s a further subtle distinction between library track object and library album object that ties in.
Did you initially add this album to your Roon library in its entirety by clicking the “+” on the Album page? Or did you add a single track at first, before adding other tracks one at a time?
Hi Connor,
Thanks for looking into it. I added the entire album.
Hi @hacker19,
Our QA team has reviewed the case and confirmed you’re experiencing the expected behavior. There’s no single-track removal function, and Removing will remove the album. We recognize how “Ban This Track”'s new presence in the same menu might cause confusion - please create a Feature Suggestions post if you wish to amplify your voice for impact.
You mentioned that this behavior is intermittent - if you can find an example of the same album page behaving differently after having added it to your library, please let us know.
Hi Connor,
Thanks for following up. However, the behavior is a little strange. I can add but not remove one track at a time? Thats inconsistent.
I really like this feature of removing ‘filler’ tracks on certain albums. If the album is mostly filler, I’ll simply add one or two tracks that I really like. But if I like 12 out of 13 tracks, it’s tedious to add 12 individual tracks. Its a lot easier to add the album and just remove the one unwanted track.
Clearly, there is single-track removal functionality as evidenced by the following example :-). Roon clearly recognizes one track was selected and displays the track name to be deleted. Can you please check with the dev team as well? It might just be buggy as shown by my initial example above.
I think I may found the repro steps:
- Add album to library. Delete individual track unexpectedly causes entire album to be deleted.
- Add individual tracks of album to library. Delete individual track deletes just that track as expected.
Thanks
Hi @hacker19,
I appreciate your persistence, but rest assured we’ve already reviewed this case with the Development team and with QA to come to the conclusion we shared.
It’s not inconsistent with the underlying object structure upon which Roon relies. Think of your example below:
Roon is removing the specific object you added to the library in both cases. If you add the album, you can delete the album object. If you add a track, you can delete the track object. ie. Tracks that are contained within an album object don’t share an identical library addition pathway to tracks added individually.
The functionality to cross between these two library addition/removal pathways - adding an Album as an object, and then removing individual tracks from that library album object - is not yet a feature in Roon.
Hi Connor,
Got it. The only confusing thing is the ‘Remove from Library’ on the track gives the impression of removing just the track.
Anyway, there’s a workaround to this issue. Instead of adding an album and then removing individual tracks, we can multi-select the desired tracks in the Qobuz/Tidal album and add them in one go.
Thanks,
-Gautam
