Good to know, saves me wasting time changing metadata.
@benjamin @connor Is there any more information Roon require in order to isolate and fix this issue that users affected would be able to provide?

FWIW, I told roon to ignore my rather large compilation and soundtrack folders. I then created 2 new folders and moved a small subset of albums from those folders that I really care about into new folders and added them back in.
So far all is good.
Hi everyone,
Development is investigating and fixing two separate bugs that underpin the behavior reported in this thread.
Please respond to this thread indicating which symptom from the two below best describes your situation.
We will be separating responses into relevant tracking threads so you can see updates. If you’re encountering both symptoms, please indicate as such.
Case One - Roon duplicates an album library object.
This is a literal duplication - if you right-click and select either version of the album, Roon will select both versions, since they are the same object.
This can occur with multiple objects concurrently, so you will see multiple duplicates of albums.
See this example from a report:
Please respond here if this symptom applies to you.
Case Two (more frequent)- Roon Creates News Album Library Objects for Tracks that Should Have Been Clumped Under a Single Album.
This occurs with Various Artists compilations, ensemble-credit albums, and greatest hits compilations.
Please indicate below if you are seeing Case Two on your system.
You can expect a fix for case one in the next several release cycles, since we’ve isolated the mechanisms that aren’t behaving correctly in the performer filtering.
Case Two remains under investigation since we don’t have a cause pinned down. We’re not close to releasing a blind fix, but we have identified the changes that preceded the emergence of this symptom. We’re far closer to resolving this issue than we were two weeks ago. Thank you for your ongoing patience.
@DaveN, since you encounter this issue with the same album files repeatedly, is it possible for you to once again provide us with a copy of a subfolder in your watched folders that contains an affected album? Here’s an uploader you can use.
I’m on holiday at the moment but will respond when I have full Roon access upon return.
Thanks for the follow up to what is a really annoying bug.

I am seeing only case two.
I’m sometimes seeing case One.
I’ve had both cases happen at various times, but much more often the second case.
Thanks for keeping this on the radar.
Only had case one and this also affects the number of albums that it shows like a focus would but showing more albums than in the library. The difference being the duplicates.
Case two in my case (note the attempt at clever word play). Lots and lots case two.
Case One. Thank you for locating the root cause. I am looking forward to the fixes.
Hi @palimpsest,
Thank you. If you’re willing to provide a copy of your Roon database for our QA team and Development to help expedite this issue, please compress and upload your RoonServer folder (ie. your Roon database itself) to our database uploader here.
I rebooted recently, and for the first time in ages I only have one affected album (with a “case one” problem), and it’s one that I haven’t had problems with in the past. If (when) things go awry again I’ll upload one of the usual suspects.
I’m in the Case 2 situation where tracks that should be on an album are taken out. Currently after a shutdown and restart there are not too many visible but they are still there
Track 22 separated out.

Hi @connor, I now have a bunch of messed up albums (some of which are new, but most of which routinely either lose or gain tracks) and am happy to upload one of them, but I’m not sure how to do that as the uploader is limited to 100MB. Should I upload one track at a time?
Servers been up a week been used a lot this weekend. Now showing 8 more albums than I have. Not sure which are showing as duplicates but count i 8 more than it should be.
